Possible Pure Source of Saidin

by JP: 1999-03-14 | 2 out of 10 (4 votes)

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: The Bowl of Winds

When the Bowl of the Winds was used by Windfinders linked with the members of the Kin and the main female characters in PoD, saidar and saidin were both present. The book mentions a column of saidin with saidar laced around it. The lace was visible for days afterward. Obviously this was a tremendous amount of saidin being used with no male channeler present. If a male channeler was nearby, could he have accessed the raw power and refined into something else? With the amount of OP used to change the climate of the entire world, I imagine a great deal could have been done with it. There could possibly have been even enough to cleanse saidin.

Alternately, it could have been stored as in the original Eye of the world. Enough OP stored in various safe locations could be used together. Just as Rand used it in Tarwin's Gap in tEotW.

Along the same lines, what if these OP stores were kept in Steddings? Would the steddings act as a buffer when the power was accessed? Could several male channelers access the stored power and link? Probably not. But an idea to ponder. And possibly another method of obtaining the power to cleanse Saidin.

It's a shame that no male channeler was around to make comments on the saidin portion...maybe that would have given us clues as to the 'purity' of the saidin that was used.
