TT Really Nutso?

by Spencer Irvin: 1999-03-26 | Not yet rated

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Lews Therin Telamon: Sane or Insane or...?

Ok, its been too long since i reread the books, but wasnt Lews Therin healed by Ishy so LTT could recognize that he had killed his wife and all his kin? Didnt Ishy say that his healing was more painful than Aes Sedai healing but also not temporary? Moments after the healing, LTT blows himself up and is dead for what? about 3000 years?

So my theory is that LTT had been permanantly healed and that while dead he could not draw on the source to make himself bonkers again... so a dead LTT **should be** sane. This is partially supported by the fact that Rand was sane since birth and up to the beginning of the story. So if LTT is sane, why does he come off as a fried egg when Rand hears his voice in his head? I think this is because it is not actually LTT but the crazy manifestation of the taint on Rand himself. This may be why every time Rand asks a direct question to LTT the voice dissappears. Especially when Rand says "are you really there?" I doubt LTT really is there.

So somewhere along the series Min says something like: I see two of you, the same but different, and you touch and become one. I take this to mean a crazy Rand and a sane and the two either become nutso or they dont. And unless all the seals are broken soon (seals are the focus of the counterstroke ... i.e. taint) I think Rand will go looney tunes.

Finally, another rational wotmer! No offense to anyone else, but I have been preaching this same scenario for the past year. LTT died, no more channeling, yet 18 years into Rand's life and some crazy voice begins to talk to him...and everyone believes it to be LTT? Rand is LTT! Rand has real LTT memories...but it isn't LTT talking to him! There aren't two seperate souls inside of Rand!...okay I am done, nice theory btw.

Where does his knowledge of the past come from, what about his rediscovery of spells?

While on Dragonmount Rand using the Cholden Kal (sp) he discovered a new understanding of reality of life. In doing so somehow there is a layer of light under the damage that the taint caused over his brain. He still has LTT’s memories that he is using.
