he Lanfear-Sammael-Moridin Connection

by Lan al'Mandragoran: 1999-03-27 | Not yet rated

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Only Nine People Living Remember the Game

There is a definite connection here. On page 43 of PoD, Moridin is playing sha'rah. Jordan writes "Only nine people living even remembered the game." The nine people are the Forsaken since they are the oldest people alive. The only other person as old as them is the Dragon Reborn but Rand is reborn and his memories are a mess so he probably doesn't remember sha'rah so we can factor him out of the equation. The Forsaken that we know for certain are alive are Moghdien, Mesaana, Semirhage, Grandael, Demandred, Moridin, Aran'gar, and Osan'gar. That's a grand total of eight. Here's where things get interesting since there are several possibilities.

One: Moridin knows for certain that Sammael is still alive and Lanfear is dead.

Two: Moridin knows for certain that Lanfear is still alive and Sammael is dead.

Three: Moridin knows that Sammael is alive and falsely believes Lanfear to be dead.

Four: Moridin knows that Lanfear is alive and falsely believes Sammael to be dead.

Five: The ninth person could be Cyndane who may be a new Forsaken. Some people may think that Moridin would know for certain if a Forsaken were dead but PoD proved that the Forsaken are not omniscient since Mesaana believes Galina to be dead. I couldn't begin to guess which of these possibilities is true but I hope it's three or four since my belief holds to something along the lines of the more Forsaken, the merrier.

Thanks for coming up with that list of possibilities, now is the quest to discover just which one of those fits right. I think you could also make a possibility #6= Moridin knows that Sammael and Lanfear still live and that Cyndane does not know the game.
