and, the last Dragon?

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Is Rand the Last Dragon?

The threat of Rand not regaining his humanity has gotten me thinking of the consequences this will have on his success in battling the DO, Shadar Haran, Moridin, etc. towards the end of this series. In the past, some have said that Rand will somehow defeat/imprison the DO and the wheel will turn whether or not Rand dies. I could have sworn that somewhere in one of the earlier books, that someone said that Rand was the last Dragon(was it Moiraine??). That if Rand died, then there would not be another incarnation of the dragon in ages to come. I suppose that Nynaeve or balefire could bring him back to life, but what if it doesn't...?

That would be a great quote if you can find it, but to my recollection I don't think Moiraine said anything that direct. Maybe she said that if Rand lost the Battle, then the DO would remake the world and there would be no future...find the quote, I am interested, this follows the line of philosophy that Ishamael would spew every once in a while.

I don't know that it says he will be the last dragon, but I think the assumption can be made that if the DO is freed from his prison, and the Dragon is killed, there won't be much of a future for anyone in the world.
