anfear/Moiraine Hybrid

by Daemon: 1999-03-26 | 3 out of 10 (4 votes)

Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Who is Cyndane?

I've just been reading all the theories about Lanfear and Moiraine and I'd just like to point out that the Lanfear-in- Moiraine's-body theory was one I originally posted on a News group at the start of this year (although it is possible others concocted the same theory simultaneously). After reading PoD it occurs to me that Cyndene fits almost all the criteria for being the Lanfear/Moiraine hybrid - except for the silvery hair (Cyndene is described as having brilliant blue eyes and being rather short). Graendal has not met Moiraine and so would not recognise her -- as for the "young" part I suspect Moiraine was stilled in destroying Lanfear's physical form. Just a thought - where does the possessed's body go when the Dark One's servants take over? Is it possible that these souls are held by the snakes as part of their agreement with the Dark One (it is my theory that the Dark One is not as all-powerful as he lets on - his aclaimed Lord of the Dead title could be heresay arrising from a pact with the Snakes allowing him to ressurrect his servants in other people's bodies - like the Cauldron in Welsh Mythology where Arawn borrows a pot that can create zombies from three wise witches c.f. Lloyd Alexander's "Book of Three")

The silver hair will be the thorn in your side, if not for that you would have a very plausible situation. The DO takes advantage of Moiraine's body while mindtrapping one of his most powerful females before she gets her chance at revengin her death. But then it would also suggest that we will never see Moiraine again...
