Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: What is Verin's 70 Year Plan?

I would like to air some ideas about why Verin CANNOT be Corianin Nedeal. I have read many theories about Corianin hiding in a vacuole or TAR or in a "Mirror World." Much of the support for this comes from the fact that the Three Oaths were not required in that time. This explains why Verin can lie without being BA. This does not work however, if we take into consederation the theory about the ageless look of Aes Sedai coming from the Oath Rod. We all know that Verin has the ageless look, as it is pointed out in TGH. I'm not sure of the exact quote, but I remember Egwene thinking about her ageless face and the grey in her hair. Since she has the ageless look, she held the Oath Rod.

I personally believe that Verin may be the daughter of Artur Hawkwing. This may sound rather far-fetched, but I have read others' ideas on this. Here are my reasons for this:

1.) Verin says to Rand when they are about to use the portal stone in TGH, "As my father used to say, 'it's time to roll the dice." We are given information that two people in the story have used that line. Mat and Artur Hawkwing. I'm not going to go into why Mat can't be her father. That's just too obvious.

2.) She has a lot of knowledge about things from that era and previous times. If she was alive in Hawkwing's time, much of the info from the AoL wouldn't have been lost yet.

3.) Here's where I tell you how she did it. If Verin was a child of Hawkwing, then there is a reason that she was left behind when everyone left for Seanchan: she could channel. Knowing Hawdwing's dislike for Aes Sedai, he probably wouldn't be too happy having a daughter that could channel. She went to the tower and learned to channel and began to slow, as in like the kin slows. So she still looks very young. Around this time, she gains knowledge of the Portal Stones and studies them by going into them. She sees many different variations on her life. In one of the worlds, she makes a mistake that led to the freedom of the dark one. That's when she comes back into reality approximately 70 years ago, maybe a little more. Remember that she still looks young, so she can enter the Tower as a Novice and proceeds to become an Aes Sedai. And for the next 70 years, she's been making plans based on her experience in the Portal Stones.

4.) This doesn't really explain the lying or the channelling in the stedding. I think that the lying thing was just a misunderstanding, and that she really didn't channel in the stedding. It does explain why she doesn't give Egwene Corianin's notes. She remembered from a past life that they would have eventually led to disaster of some kind. This may be far-fetched, but it is a possibility.

I agree with your reasoning regarding Verin, Coriann, and the Oath Rod. The twist you put on the usage of the Portal Stones is quite good, except as far as I remember, Verin has friends that remember being novices with her?(I need to look that up).
