Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Is Mat a hero reborn?

If we assume that being reborn does not mean your are the same, could Matrim be this ages Demandred? Both were born the same week as the Dragon. Both were/are great generals. Both were shadowed by the Dragon. Both have a bit of a negative view of the Dragon (Mat just isnt angry but often doubts rand). Both were known as the gambler. There was also Mat's fear of betraying Rand (portal stones in Great Hunt). Wierd huh?

I think in the sense that history repeats itself in the lives of other men/women(I still have yet to write that paper), then your similarities here become uncanny. I assume that the information is from the guide and the books. The question then would be will Mat ever become jealous of Rand's power? Will Mat ever have to choose? A great comparison here, definitely worth looking more in depth.
