Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Rand, Alanna and the Bond

I am about to let you all know one of many little secrets I have uncovered about Robert Jordan's writing style in his books. I base my theory on something that Moiraine said to Egwene, Elayne, and Nynaeve in Tear. "Days ago I could have asked what Rand must do to survive and triumph, how he can defeat the forsaken and the Dark One,how he can learn to control the power and HOLD OFF MADNESS LONG ENOUGH TO DO WHAT HE MUST." Right here Moiraine is talking about what she would ask if she went throught the "door" ter'angreal which we all know that she did. Did Alanna's bond to Rand keep him alive during the time he was stuck in the chest. Did her bond keep him alive when he was cut by the dagger until one of the Ashaman could heal him? Does her bond somehow hold off the madness. I believe she was sent by Moiraine to bond Rand. Moiraine found out that it would be necessary to hold off the madness long enough to do what he must. And of course it would be someone from the Green Ajah who would be willing and ready to bond more than one person. And to top it off, Moiraine and Alanna were friends. She has already transfered Lan's Bond to Myrelle, why not this, she has always said that she would do what must be done in order to get Rand to the Last Battle.

That maybe right, however Verin was definitly involved (in LoC she says "are you saying we should have linked before you bonded him..." which implies that she new. You say that you know how RJ writes, but you never say how or why that's important, I don't think I'm the only one that realized that.

I only said that I know about one part of his writing style concerning these books...and I probably shouldn't have mentioned it. I know I never say what it is but I have actually given some clues...i realized that if I wrote my paper on it then everyone would know and it wouldn't be much of a secret. I know, stupid reason, but I have never seen much if any on this topic and I would like to see somebody mention it before I say anything, ya know, like until the cat is out of the bag I would rather keep it in the bag. Sorry. But like I said, the day I see it written by another WOTmer I will be able to add my two cents.

I forget where exactly but Morraine mentions that she knew that her bonding to Rand would lead to disatrous results. Perhaps after being tested as a Wise One? If that one is true (remember the test is similiar to the Accepted test) when did she have time to contact Alanna and send a message? Are there any refrences to where Alanna is at that time? (I really need to get my books back).

I believe the reference you speak of is when Moraine told the Wise Ones that she had even considered sleeping with Rand but that it would end in disastrous consequences...again that is from memory so I could be wrong.
