The Hand that Mat will lose is not his left hand not his right (weilding his spear will be a bit difficult with only one hand), no the hand that Mat will lose will be the Band of the Red Hand, to Elaine no less. The reason i say Elaine is that in tGH: New Friends and Old Enemies, Elaine says:"One of the things she said she saw looking at me was a severed hand. Not mine, she says.

Good play on words. That would be interesting(and it would piss me off, Elayne is not one of my favorite characters, I think it is the 'royalty'), although could that severed hand that Min saw over Elayne also be Rand's hand?
