he Whitcloaks

Previous Categories: What army is about to attack Caemlyn?

I have seen that many people have discounted the Whitecloaks as being tied up with the Seanchan, but in WH we were told that Valda left with a large contingent right before they showed up.

I think it is likly that he is going to conquer Andor using the Treaty that Morgause signed as his excuse. This will lead to all sorts of problems as Elayne believes her mother dead and will believe it is a forgery. Valda's inability to produce her Mother will only add to that belief.

This fits in nicely with Jordan's need to point out the problems with war in this time. He makes reference over and over again to the battle changes the moment it begins. This is absolutly true when viewed in this world. With the exception of Rand's team and the Forsaken, no one in this world has any news that is not horridly out of date. Look at the way we have the borderland army showing up where and when they do. The two seperate Aes Sedai groups competing for the Dragon's affection are widly off base due to having only the resources of their time to work with. Even the Ogier are stuck with this as Loial's parents are now stuck in the two rivers looking for him and two days later he is in Caemlyn.

I think this is another time Jordan is going to use this as a plot device and it is the Whitecloaks feeling they have a perfect right to be there, led by Valda with alot of help from Galad (haven't seen him in a while have we?). Just a speculation as I agree with everyone else that all the other armies are tied up.

Granted, this is a possibility, and I have forgotten about Morgase and her stint with the Whitecloaks. I would assume that Jordan just wasn't using that as a plot device to demean Morgase and that it actually had some pertinence to upcoming developments. I like it, although you would think that the fact that it was Whitecloaks would spread like wildfire...and that it wouldn't be so mysterious. Just a thought.

Wouldn't it be great if Valda showed up to Elayne and showed the signature of Morgase that he has the right to be there and how everybody thinks that she is dead? Couldn't Elayne maybe ask the borderland army for a little help and get rid of the Whitecloaks? I just think it would be a great blow to the whitecloaks if they werent believed because they couldnt prove the treaty. Probably not going to happen though.

If the Whitecloaks know Elayne is on the throne, my theory is that Galad has broken away with as many as he could take with him - although 20k is a lot, given that the force in Amadicia is only 9k, but Galad is a very convincing figure and may have raised the countryside in support of his sister.

After all, he knows that in the absence of Morgase, Elayne is the rightful Queen - and Galad _always_ does what is right.

btw, the reason nobody talks of Whitecloaks is that Galad would have shed his cloak if he caught a whif of Morgase being a prisoner even for one minute, and that treaty would raise his suspicions in a second.

well... hes welecome to TRY and conquer andor... but i dont think he can. also theres many many complications, like rands aiel, the black tower, the borderlanders, oh yeah, and camelyn and the andorans who would probvably unite against a foergin army, especially the whitecloaks
