hara will come into play very soon with very powerfull female channelers!

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

Has anyone else been uneasy about Shara at all. It is a very secretive place that seems to have almost no hard information on. Even their name is in doubt! Here's the theory: Shara is controlled by the shadow, who use it as a breeding ground for very powerful channelers.

Here's what we know about Shara: They breed channelers together and keep very complicated records of abilities. They seem to be breeding for strength in the power. Why would they do this?

This would explain where some of the VERY powerful channelers that have started to pop up without any clue have been coming from. Remember that the shadow takes the long view of things and a plan to breed a force of very powerful channelers secretly in Shara is very possible. Where better to do this that in a very secretive counrty like shara that is also geologically isolated from the rest of the world.

Unfortunately due to the lack of info on Shara it is very hard to find evidence for this. Let me know what you think!

I think there have been lots of guesses. RJ says he may or may not use Shara in the stories, so it doesn't seem like Shara will have anything to do with the Last Battle. But your idea is fun, could the Forsaken be manipulating these strange customs to further some plans of his own...no idea.

RJ did say that Graendal and Semirhage had been absent for a while for reasons. And Seanchan is pretty close to Shara ;-).

The only information about Shara in the novel comes from two sources in Graendal and Noal.

Remember that Graendal has the emperor and emperess of Shara as her pet toys. So Shara could come into play in the coming series.

Kind of reminds me of the Easterlings from The Two Towers...

I think maybe shara will be the balance to all the powerful dreadlords that will be at the last battle...I think a LOT of aes sedai are going to die when the tower is reunited, and the ashaman's future seems bleak, to me. . . so i think shara will be a lot like the elves comming to the rescue at helms deep in lord of the rings.

There won't be major storylines taking place in Shara itself, but it seems possible that That Sharan characters would almost have to make thier way into the story...Lord knows everyone else has.But Graendal talked about getting the two Sharans to show Sammael as being an awful lot of difficulty for a moments distraction. The point is, if the Shadow was very prevalent in Shara,Graendal would not even have thought of the difficulty of obtaining her pets for the subterfuge. And Sammael did not seem to care whether or not Graendal had something afoot in Shara. If it was a channeling breeding ground for the Shadow's later use, Sammael would have been more wary of Graendal's involvement,or would have likely thought about it in his PoV. esides,if Shara was a secret training ground for the Shadow,Graendal would not have had to use compulsion on the two she had.

Also, if Shara were a breeding ground for the shadow's channelers, Graendal never would have taken any pets from their. According to Sammael, she "distrusts friends of the Dark, claiming they are too easily swayed."

I was think that Shara was not so much as a secret training ground for the shadow, but more that had been manipulated by the shadow in the past, in a similar fashion to Seanchan. They could have influence the Sharan culture to a have the breeding grounds and then ignored it, coming back periodicly to check their results.

Ok we really do not know how big their world. it could be the size of the earth or the size of Jupiter so its hard to tell where everyone all the continents are.

Callandor: 2003-03-05

In the BWB we are given a map of the entire world and can judge distences fairly good.

All the stuff about Shara that I can recall indicates that the channelers may well be the true rulers, and are doing the whole Master Race stuff, including selective breeding to make themselves stronger - too bad for a boy, you don't get to live past twenty (but you are required to 'contribute' before getting the axe).

Shara will ally with the Dragon. They were asking the Aiel if the DR would break the world again, so they may think that if they ally he will spare Shara.

hmmm... well this is interesting theory... It may be that RJ is gonna bring some big cannons from Shara into Randland... but my Q is, why haven't wee seen anything about it from the BT? Surely they'd love to go and find all them male channelers... admitedly that could be disasterous for them... not good to be caught ina fight with bunch of women that can controll the men in the same way taht they are aleged to do... but the queztion remains.. if the Sharan channeleres are to be brought into the story... in what way would it be done? On which side?

i have to say something about shara because the more vague jordan is, the more interested i become. first off shara appears to be alot like the beginnings of our Randland now. With channelers ruling the heiarchy of the country, and quite possibly the shadow is manipulating this place to its own means, but i have to agree, they arent under any direct influence. possibly, the shadow knows the slecetively breed themselves, and will use shara, but my guess is, if you look at how strong Rand's side of the army is getting, it would seem more logical to think that maybe the sharans will support the shadow. i have heard nothing of Dreadlords lately, maybe they will substitute this position.

and i think involving the sharans would be easy in the story now, not only did Granedal take their empress and empereror( the sharans leave en masse, a huge army to rescue them) but also, if the sharans have that many strong channelrs, and ancient talents and abilities, they are bound to know about Tarmon Gaidon and the prophecies of their own.

watch out for the sharans they'll be used yet

I have trouble believing that Shara is completely under the shadow. If that were the case the male channelers (that are most likely extremely powerful) would not be killed. They would be tied to the DO and given a taint filter.

That said, I also believe that Shara is the "opposite" of Seanchan. In Seanchan those who can channel are leashed, whereas in Shara they rule. It seems like a good fit and I imagine they will come into play before the last battle.

One last thought. Aren't the Dreadlords just channelers that went over to the shadow? Wouldn't the Black Ajah, Taim (we assume), and others of the Black Tower that are darkfriends be referred to as the Dreadlords when they lead the Shadow at TG?

I'm not sure how important this is, other than in the long run, but several times we've seen references to people recommending that Aes Sedai have children with men who can channel. If Sharans do come over, and show that they have a LOT of channelers, and strong ones, that might give the channeler breeding plans some more weight. Especially with the Asha'man/Aes Sedai bonded pairs that are starting to crop up.
