onnection Between DO and Lews Therin

by Dutchman: 2000-11-15 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

While reading the book "Hannibal" by Thomas Harris I came across
the phrase "That is the Devil," she said. "Shaitan, Son of the
Morning, I've seen him now." (pg 165). The setting in the story is
Florence, Italy. Anyways the point I'm trying to make is that
Shaitan (name of the dark one in WoT) is also known as Son of the
Morning (Lord of the Morning is one of Lews Therin's title's) Does
any one see the connection here! What kid of relationship does the
DO have with Lews Therin. I bet that Robert Jordan knows about this
connection as well, being the history buff he is (or so I have read).
I just can't figure out what this means. Can anyone figure this out?
I know the quote isn't from WoT but it might mean something. I doubt
Thomas Harris just thought that up.

Jordan could be playing it that way or he is pointing out that throughout Ages phrases or titles change, good one Age and bad the next.

The name shaitan was originally the Islamic version of Satan, and is the word from which Satan is derived. So, this probably means that RJ got his name Shai'tan from the Islamic creation story.

As for the connection between Lews Therin and the Dark One, well, LTT is only rememberred because of his connnection to DO, i.e. fighting the shadow, he went mad and became Kinslayer. So LTT's infamy comes from the DO.

But maybe he could be linked in another way. As Rand's birth on Dragonmount heralded the coming of the Last Battle, so maybe the birth of Lews Therin in the Age of Legends was the thing that heralded the coming of the bore and the renewal of the DO's ability to influence the world. What I'm trying to say is that LTT and DO need each other to exist in any practical sense.

Intersting word point: the good guys are fighting the Shadow, and you only get shadows when there is light around. So maybe LTT, the Creators surrogate, is the light that shows up the shadows. If anybody can make sense of these taint-induced ramblings, please help me get my thoughts in order.
