ammael is Dead

by AshamanYoda: 2002-12-09 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

This is more of an FYI than a theory. I'm quoting from The Creators interview on CNN , Dec 12,2000.

Question from Arsolos: It has been reported that you have confirmed that Sammael died at the end of Crown of Swords. Could you confirm that you have said this and elaborate on whether Rand was correct?

Robert Jordan: Mashadar killed Sammael. Sammael is toast!

As for arguments that the GUIDE suggests some doubt about his death..the GUIDE is older than this interview. There you go. May this debate rest in peace.

Thanks. Although, if it was Mashadar...then Sammael is probably very much alive now (reincarnation). Unless, in this case, does Mashadar's hold on that soul supercede that of the DO's?

I think that Mashadar/Shadar Logoth has always been a thorn in the DOs foot. Right from the days of Aridhol to the current day Padan Fain , the dark side has never managed to actually overcome mashadar in any way whatsoever. The biggest proof of this of course is the saidin-cleansing episode , which proves that the Evil of Shadar logoth is atleast as strong as the taint on saidin. The other indication that DO vs Mashadar is a pretty even match up is the wound on rands side. If you remember right , the fain-dagger wound keeps the ishy wound in check.

Not that i have a theory , but from the way things have been portrayed..or to use jordaneque lingo..the "pattern" does not allow a possibility that the DO could snatch a soul from mashadar..He can only snatch souls from regular deaths..
