oiraine's saviors

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

I am a believer that Moiraine is held captive in the Tower of Ghenjei and also believe that there is too much hinting in the books that she must return. Everybody knows that Matt & Oliver have been spending time playing Snakes & Foxes and that the Tower of Ghenjei is the actual lair for the Snakes & Foxes. "Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to dazzle, iron to bind" is a quick summary to the little poem read prior to playing the game...also very similar to the questions asked by the Snakes & Foxes. This I believe is the key to freeing Moiraine.

Courage to strengthen - Oliver; I believe he is essential because I believe he will find the way to beat the game without cheating. Also, who can be more courageous than that of a hero reborn (Gaidal Cain)?

Fire to blind - Matt; Matt is on the verge of discovering gunpowder. I believe this is the fire that shall blind them.

Music to dazzle - Thom; 2 reasons. He is the best gleeman around and also because of the visions of him pulling the stone from the fire.

Iron to bind - Perrin; he is the blacksmith. Not just because he knows how to work iron, but because he knows the way to the Tower of Ghenjei.

These 4 together shall be Moiraine's saviors.

It sounds like a great idea, just like it has sounded like a great idea ever since Moiraine left...but there still isn't any reason to believe that Perrin will be getting together any time soon with these people. It is highly unlikely that Mat believes Moiraine is still alive, nor that he has any desire to return to finnland. Maybe, someone should start coming up with plausible theories as to why and how they would ever get to the point that they would and could return for the purpose of locating Moiraine beyond Thom saying, hey, do you want to help me go looking for Moiraine in finnland.

I disagree, Tamyrlin. I think there's a LOT of hints about how Mat links the game snakes and ladders (oops, foxes, sorry -_-v) to the Finns. Mat doesn't much like losing, and you can tell he's still resentful about how they seem to have gotten the better of him both times he's been through the doorways.

I also think there's a chance that Tuon knows a think or two about the Finns.

The Perrin link was from the Tower of Ghenji found in TAR, but don't forget that it was found in the ruins of Manetheren, which Mat is almost hereditarily bound to. There must be a real-world manifestation/remnant of the Tower.

There is no enterance into the real tower that is seen in the first book. Slayer enters the tower in T'A'R. Now, will Perrin see Slayer enter in T'A'R and follow him this time? Sure, but he wouldn't have Mat, Thom, or Olver with him.

SkullOne: 2003-01-14

Who says they have to go in together? I believe 2 seperate paths will lead into one. I believe Perrin will go to the Tower for his own reasons (probably chasing Slayer) & Mat, Thom, & Olver will go in for another. In my opinion, I think that Mat, still upset with his previous answers (especially now with Tuon, Daughter of the Nine Moons) will take Thom & Olver to the Tower of Ghenjei to get more clarification on his answers & end up finding Moiraine on a side note. Remember all the havic the last time 2 ta'veren were in there?

Callandor: 2003-01-14

I dont think that Olver really needs to go. All he has to do is tell Mat he thinks he made a connection with the snakes and foxes and Mat could go with Thom or Thom by himself. Remember Mat TAUGHT Olver the game I think that once he figures out the connection he could go there without Olvers help.

Mat did not teach Snakes and Foxes to Olver. Olver's dad made the board for him. It is one of his few treasured possessions.

7

Callandor: 2003-01-31

Right his dad made the board but Mat taught him the game.

jason wolfbrother: 2003-01-31

I have to respectfully disagree. A rolled cloth tied with a string and a small wooden box. "My game of Snakes and Foxes; my father made it for me; he drew the board." While his father might not been the one too teach him I think we can safely assume that Mat had nothing to do with Olver learning to play. He must have learned some time before he met Mat.

Olver isn't really necessary. Neither is Perrin, and neither is Mat. I think Thom will go through the doorway in Tear. When Tuon finds out about the fake DotNM with Rand, she'll drag the Fellowship of the Runaways to Tear to straighten things out. While there Thom will make all the connections necessary (with help from Mat and the letter) and go in solo to save his ladylove.

Darren, the Tower of Ghenjei was not in the ruins of Manetheren - Perrin first found Slayer in that area, but their 'blurring steps' took them across a huge tract of Randland before they reached the Tower.

Domon points out the Tower of Ghenjei to Rand &/or Mat when they sail past it in tEotW.

Further on the Tower, Perrin is told that it is hard to escape from in the waking world, and almost impossible in TAR (iirc).

i just want to say i have no idea how it will happen but Moiraine will return however Thom i dont think will be going to Tear anytime soon because Rand will most likly be collared and brought to where the highest concentration of Seanchan is. As Tamyrlin says there needs to be a plausable reason and the only thing i can think of would be the letter she left Thom since Jordan has been so secretive about its contents ala not having ever seen what is says i think it must indicate somthing but if that were the case why would thom not have already gone after her? only when the letter is fully revealed will we be able to make a presumption that is plausable. I think Thom is the most likly to save Moiraine. as to when why how or any other answers everything is only speculation as are all Thories we will just have to RAFO

what if thom rescuing moir from the fire is an illusion of fire used to hide moir, that she created to hide herself fron the finns and that she has used to much of herself in. this shield could allow her to escape notice

Traveller: 2005-07-18

I don't know but I think that only Mat and Thom will actually be there when Moiraine is rescued because they are the only ones in the dream about Thom pulling the blue stone out of the fire. Maybe the others Skullone mentioned will help them by giving them advice or objects, but I don't think that they will be there.
