An Hour With Harriet

2012-04-30: I had the great pleasure of speaking with Harriet McDougal Rigney about her life. She's an amazing talent and person and it will take you less than an hour to agree.

s Halima Aginor?

by Darren: 2002-11-09 | 5.14 out of 10 (14 votes)

Previous Categories: Halima and Egwene's Headaches

Let's not forget that the Halima=Aginor theory began at the same time as the Taim=Demandred theory, and for the same reason. Rather transparent hints on RJ's part. We all got suckered with Taim, so we have to consider that we're being duped with Halima.

I mean, am I the only one that finds her methods unAginor-esque? The headaches? That's too indirect. Halima is probably Balthamel.

As for Halima's sexuality, don't forget that it is Aginor who says at the end of EOW "I have almost forgotten the pleasures of the flesh... but Balthamel remembers much."

I think Aginor is Taim. The scorn of the sword, the lascivious looks he throws at all the ladies, the fact that he becomes a teacher (which we see Aginor offer at the end of EOW... "I may take the time to teach you.")

Darren, the identity of Aginor was a mystery until the very end of Winter's Heart when we get the following quote:

TITLE: Winter's Heart
CHAPTER: 35 - With the Choedan Kal
"Crouching behind a fallen log, Osan'gar panted from the exertion of running. Those months masquerading as Corlan Dashiva had not made him any fonder of exercise."

But then he is killed...will he come back again and in what body, that is the question...

Besides, how can Aginor be Taim when the latter was already running around Saldaea claiming to be the Dragon Reborn during the time the former, having just been freed from his imprisonment, was fighting Rand and company at the Eye of the World?

could he have replaced tam after his near demise. do i remember correctly that the DO needed bodies t infuse the life of those he created into (halima's body was the best to be found at the time) if they 'rescued' taim then they would have a body on hand and wouldnt have to worry about using a MoM. and problems in recognision (from Bashire wasnt it?) could be differences in the way the body is 'held'. posture and facial expresions can be very important in recognition

Halima can't be aginor and aginor can't be Taim. Aginor came back as Osan'gar. he couldnt be taim because of the quote above showing him as Dashiva. as fro why osan'gar is Aginor...

(WH, pg. 754) His talents, his genius, lay elsewhere. The Trollocs were his making, and thus the Myrddraal that had sprung from them, and many other creatures that had rocked the world and made his name famous.

it has been noted that Aginor created the trollocs, so Osan'gar must be aginor, meaning that Halima cant be.

Halima=Sammeal why not. the gar's are Aginor and Balthamel we know it's a guy so that rules out everyone but Asmodean, Bel'al, Demandred, and Sammeal but Demandre isn't dead Be'lal got balefired and Asmodean sucks at healing so walla

We're not, and really haven't been.

Halima = Aran'gar = Bathamel

Dashiva = Osan'gar = Aginor

**post-ACOS book signing [Cincinnati, Ohio; 12 October, 1996]:

Someone asked RJ about the 'gars, and mentioned that he'd seen theories that Lanfear was one of the 'gars. I was expecting a RAFO, but RJ gave the guy a disgusted look, and said that "No, Osan'gar and Aran'gar are Aginor and Balthamel." The guy said, "You're confirming this, and not hinting about it?" RJ replied (I'm paraphrasing here), "I'm confirming. After all, it's pretty obvious in the books that it's those two. After all, that's what Aginor thought was so funny; Balthamel, the lecher, was stuck in a female body." [Mike Lawson]**

**Halima=Sammeal why not**

1. Halima was back before Sammael died (timing is a very important factor people).

2. RJ has said that Sammael will not be returning; he is "toast" (RJ's words not mine).

Not Osan'gar dunce...that was all from Aran'gar's point of veiw when he/she said that...proof that Aginor is Aran'gar...

Aran'gar didn't have a Point of View in Winter's Heart. That was Osan'gar's Point of View at the Cleansing that was quoted.

icspots: 2006-04-13

What Callandor said. The only time we saw Aran'gar/Balthamel/Halima at the cleansing was from the POV of.... ummmmm, that Asha'man (the one that bit the dust) when she walked up and said some thing like she lost her horse, then the Asha'man charged her yelling "she's holding saidin", and then we cut to another fight.

callmeISHAMAEL: 2006-06-24

The quote about creating Trollocs was in the PoV of Osan'gar, so hes Aginor. Be'lal and Rahvin were balefired and cant come back, and sammael died AFTER Aran'gars appearance. So the only one left is Balthamel.

Sammael wasn't destroyed by Balefire. Sammael was destroyed by Mordeth. Its mordeth right? The great fog of shadar logoth? Cause thats what im going for.

12

Gandelail: 2007-02-20

Sammael was taken by Mashadar in Shadar Logoth. Mordeth was the councilor who fostered the evil that led Aridhol and it's people to their eventual fate.

terez: 2007-02-21

"Sammael wasn't destroyed by Balefire. Sammael was destroyed by Mordeth. Its mordeth right? The great fog of shadar logoth? Cause thats what im going for."

That would be Mashadar, and yes, RJ has confirmed, verifiable on Thus Spake the Creator, that he was killed by Mashadar.

Q: It has been reported that you have confirmed that Sammael died at the end of Crown of Swords. Could you confirm that you have said this and elaborate on whether Rand was correct?

A: Mashadar killed Sammael. Sammael is toast!
________________________________

In the same spot, it is also confirmed that Sammael will not be coming back:

________________________________
Q: Is Sammael dead dead, or 'he will never return dead'?

A: Sammael? pronounce something like Sammy-el Sammael is dead. He's dead. He could be reborn. In another life. Without knowing anything of Sammael. He's not going to be reincarnated, he's not going to show up again.

I hope that helps. :)
