ran'gar and Oran'gar

Previous Categories: Halima and Egwene's Headaches

All right here it is.

Aran'gar and Oran'gar are the names of the two deadly daggers which people used to stop argues in the Age of Legends. They are also the only Forsaken who were (re)named by the dark one. So why did the Dark one name the after 2 indentical deadly daggers. Because they are being used for identical thing. Oran'gar was in the Black Tower and Aran'gar in the Egwenes "White Tower". Oran'gar obviosly must of spoken lies and made some of the Ashaman turn against Rand including Taim. Aran'gar is doing basically the same to Egwene. She is not only giving Egwene headaches but using the Talents Delving or/and Compulsion giving orders to her. This will stop when Logain or Rand will go to the "White Tower" and feel Aran'gars ability to channel.

Thank you for your time

I think you are right that they have similar missions and Halima is definitely asserting some form of control over Egwene. I think you can track a "difference" in Egwene ever since Halima started ministering to her. Although, I don't think that Halima's control will end...she just has to be smart about her usage. What if Halima succeeded at turning Egwene? That would be cool. :)

Cool but scary, seeing as she's one of the Amyrlin Seats. I don't think Halima's giving her orders yet. You'd think Siuan and/or Sheriam would notice something strange, and if she was doing anything that could even remotely be connected to the Shadow, I can think of at least two Sitters that would pounce on it. Then again, I haven't read CoT yet, so correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't believe Halima controls Egwene as such but used the headaches as a way to guarantee she remained close to her, for information.

Anything she gains beyond that is a bonus, such as ordinary verbal suggestions or comments on such plans as she overhears.

Ok... first of... Aran'gar and OSan'gar... at least spell them right, and second... they aren't the only two re-named... what about lanfear being Cyndane, and the possibility of Ishamael being Moridin? And I don't really think that Halima (Aran'gar) could be giving Egwene orders, or even using compulsion... otherwise, Egwenes dicisions would be vastly different, for one, she wouldn't try to heal the white tower through war... If the white tower is healed, that's just a bigger force to go agains the DO, and the forsaken are still trusting chaos, Egwene's decisions have been too ordered for Aran'gar to be directing them. I think Aran'gar is simply staying close to Egwene to keep herself in a powerful position, maybe she'll start advising Egwene... but that has yet to be told.

Egwene mentioned that sometime going into Tel'aran'rhiod would give her headaches in the morning. Moghedien mentioned that she had taught them a fraudulent way to sense male channelling that only gave them headaches. Maybe Egwene is still trying to find Moghedien's rescuer.

Although this is a good possibility, I do not believe it is likely that Halima is even giving Egwene the headaches. Maybe she is, but her intentions could be as simple as to be around to pick up information. Egwene is under a lot of pressure, and is dealing with new ways of using the Power on top of that. As far as Rand coming to the rebel White Tower, I find that unlikely in itself. Rand does not like Aes Sedai anymore than he used to, since they try and control him so much. And Logain would have already sensed Halima's ability, since obviously he's been channeling to cure Egwene's headaches.

Maybe there is the possibility of Osan'gar rallying as many men of the Black Tower against Rand. Maybe some who already joined were darkfriends. So many maybe's...

**Although this is a good possibility, I do not believe it is likely that Halima is even giving Egwene the headaches. Maybe she is, but her intentions could be as simple as to be around to pick up information.**

How can you even deny that Halima is the cause of them?

**TITLE: Crossroads of Twilight

CHAPTER: 18 - A Chat with Siuan

"I'm afraid I do have work, Halima," she said, tugging off her gloves. A mountain of work, most days. There was no sign of Sheriam's reports on the table yet, of course, but she would be sending them soon, along with a few petitions she thought merited Egwene's attention. Just a few; ten or twelve appeals for redress of grievances, with Egwene expected to pass the Amyrlin's judgment on each. You could not do that without study, and questions, not and hand down a just decision. "Perhaps you can have dinner with me." If she finished in time to do more than eat at her table right there in her study. It was getting on toward midday already. "We can talk then."

Halima sat up abruptly, eyes flashing and full lips compressed, but her scowl vanished as quickly as it had come. A smoldering remained in her eyes, though. Had she been a cat, she would have had her back arched and her tail like a bottle-brush. Rising gracefully to her feet on the layered carpets, she smoothed her dress over her hips. "Very well, then. If you're certain you don't want me to stay."

With remarkable timing, a dull throb began behind Egwene's eyes, an all too familiar precursor to a blinding headache, but she shook her head anyway and repeated that she had work to do. Halima hesitated a moment longer, her mouth going tight once more, hands fisting in her skirts, then she snatched her fur-lined silk cloak from the cloak stand and stalked out of the tent without bothering to pull the garment around her shoulders. She could do herself an injury going about like that in the cold.**

Halima is being dismissed from Egwene's area (quite bluntly), she takes obvious offense to this, and ~magically~, with lovely timing, one of her headaches just happens to start up.

Do you need a POV of Halima doing the weaving to Egwene for more proof?

**And Logain would have already sensed Halima's ability, since obviously he's been channeling to cure Egwene's headaches.**

A male channeler cannot be detected unless they are drawing on saidin at the time -- Logain was out of Salidar before Halima began to work on Egwene. Halima just ~happened~ to show up right at Egwene's doorstep (tentstep if you will ;)), with the solution on the first day of her headaches; which was the day that Logain left.
