Before Winter's Heart - Archive Only: Is Taim Demandred?

I'm back again for a totally off the wall view. Mazrim Taim I think he is Demandred. There are a lot of little things that people have posted but the most convincing in my mind is in the chapter 'Patterns within Patterns' in aCoS when Sammael and Graendal are being observed by the mysterious Watcher, Sammael makes a comment about Rand being captured by the Aes Sedai, It goes a little like this "...Messana definetly had a hand in that as well as Semerhage and Demandred, no matter how it ended..." Well we all no how it ended Taim pretty much saved Rand's butt. So that combined with everything else convinces me.

I had forgotten this passage...hmmm, obviously Mesanna probably helped plan the idea at the White Tower, and for the other two...okay this requires some more thought. Good point.

Pagemaster: 1998-09-03

This makes sense to me. Remember in the beginning of LoC (Prologue, The First Message: pg. 55-59), 17 days after Demandred talked to the Dark One,he met Mesanna, Semiherge, and Graendal (Sammael didn't come because he didn't trust them)and gave out the Dark One's orders? The first part was:
"Let the Lord of Chaos rule"
The next part, from Mesanna's point of view, was a gamble. I think that maybe the Dark One set up Dumai Wells, in order to "let the Lord of Chaos (Rand I think) rule". Maybe this is heading towards one great failure for Rand, maybe the Dark One wants a final confrontation. I have no theories, just wanted to bring up the reference.

Baldemaster: 1998-09-07

I know that I said earlier that I thoght Taim was Demandred. But now I think I have a different outlook. I just finished re-reading the series (I think that makes 14) and I just re-read the Guide. So here goes my new theory on Mazrim Taim. First let me start off by saying that he can't be Demandred because he is too powerful a channeler, Demen was not that strong in the power where Taim can hold almost as much as Rand unaided. Second Taim is a touch insane (LoC 'A New Arrival' he totallydisregards all the threats to his life.) So if we look at the LoC prolouge we notice, during the part where Asan'gar and Osan'gar receive their bodies, we note that Osy has a middle aged BORDERLANDERS body. Hmmmm when Taim was freed from Aes Sedai clutches, possibly by Black Sisters was he taken and his soul replaced by Aginors? It would fit with all the slips he makes, and his apparent Cookyness, plus it explains the fact that Taim is almost as strong as Rand since Agy was almost as strong as LTT in the Age of Legends. That is my new theory and I personally like it better that my old one where Demandred was Taim. The only question it leaves me is what has Demen been up to if he is not Taim? Something with the Seanchan perhaps? I don't know. Peace favor your swords.

Blademaster, you defintitely have alot of opinions about Taim, and this one I like alot. The entire question of Taim's escape is so undefined in the books that it leads us to wonder if the BA used his body. Or if they turned him, or if he is being impersonated and was really killed off. Other ideas anyone?
