and's Scar

Previous Categories: Rand and the Last Battle

A common theory has to do with rand's scar (the one on his side) having something to do with the last battle. I think that it will not feature in the last battle but will be healed by Nynaeve by mixing the two evils that are present there (From the darkone and from Shadar Logoth)

I don't know. Jordan has made reference to the fact that Flinn uses the same type of healing as Nynaeve and what he did already was pretty impressive...so I am not quite sure that Nynaeve can do much better. What leads you to believe that she will heal that wound?

Let the wound heal itself. The taint and mashadar canceled. Maybe if the block is removed the mashadar and the dark one's scar will annihilate each other.

I think Rand's scar is simply RJ drawing a comparison to Christ, whose side was also pierced. If they wanted to heal it, presumably the huge sa'angreal could provide enough power; the sa'angreal can do almost anything. The DO is not going to truly heal anything. That's why they call it the DO- because it's the DO!

Great Lord of the Dark: 2003-02-25

Before Fain scratched the wound with the Shadar Logoth dagger, Rand had been busy getting the Aiel, then taking Cairhien, then establishing the Asha'man, getting captured, and finally preparing to clean Sammael's clock. He knew he would have to cleanse the taint when he established the Asha'man, and may even have suspected how to do it, but Flinn's healing of the dagger wound and the scar was the final clue he (and we) needed to figure out exactly how to cleanse the taint. Right after Flinn heals him, the rhetoric about cleansing the taint picks up. Rand has figured out how to do it, he just needs to find an Aes Sedai he trusts to use the sa'angreal. If the wound serves any further purpose, it will be as a clue to find how he can use Padan fain and the Great Lord of the Dark against each other. It will remain until the final Battle, because it is prophesied to be the wound that kills him. Whether that refers to the original wound from Ishamael or the second one from Padan Fain is uncertain.

I haven't read anywhere that that wound would defeat the DO. Rand, not too long after he receives the wound from Ishamael, is almost certain that that wound would be what killed him, but perhaps we are looking at the scar wrong. What exactly is the scar? Is it a manifestation of the DO's power? Is it a repository for the taint? Is it linked to Lews Therin at all, since it is after the wound that he begins to come out? I remember how they always say when Delving Rand that the scar is just a hole of evil, with no amount of power being able to fill it up. But Rand seems to think that it is where the taint is. I don't know, but it would help answer the question of what is to come if we could figure out what it is.

I believe that Rand is two people. LTT and Rand al'Thor. He also has two scars. Min had a viewing that the two people slide into one another. I believe that one of the scars will spill the blood of the dragon on the slopes of Shayol Ghul, and only one of the two men, (who i believe will be LTT) will die. Rand will then be able to fix what he has done on the world, and their will be no need of another Dragon to be spun out by the wheel, and the Age of Legend will come again.

The greatest possibility in my mind is that the staff Ishamael shoved through Rand's side was just a massively-boosted form of the Myrddraal swords - the manner of their forging taints the steel in a way that causes wounds inflicted by them to be incredibly hard to heal, and Ishamael backed it with more power.

Fain's dagger wound is just something that usually instantly kills that Flynn managed to halt, but was unable to pull enough power to remove.

it could be like the Myrdraal swords because if i remember it right then i think it said when they were fighting in the sky that there were sparks flying everywhere wich is what happens when aes sedai steel meets a Myrdraal blade. but what i think it was is a staff made by a weave of the One Power like Rand's fire sword because even if the staff was made like the Myrdraal blade i dont think that it would be able to rip through a persons flesh with the butt end of it.
