he New Eye

This is just a thought, and I could be making a connection that really isn't there, but this is my first original theory and I want to see what you think. (P.S. There are some gaps.)

Shadar Logoth was annihilated in CoT... now this is a gap... I don't honestly remember if it was mentioned who destroyed it or how. In any case, all that is left is a giant hole in the ground, and there was a puddle in the bottom of it. Now... here goes... I think this "hole" is going to end up being the new Eye of the World when the Wheel turns again, whether Rand decides to do it (because he knows the prophecies, and EVERYONE knows that history repeats itself) to prepare for the future, or someone else does it. I know that the "puddle" was ice in the book, but isn't it possible that it COULD contain untainted Saidin? I expect you people to tear this apart, so go to it.......

Tear it apart...nah, we don't do that here at Theoryland (~hears small snickers from the corners of the room, kicks dog.) Well, Shadar Logoth was destroyed during the cleansing of the taint. Now, is it possible that this cleansing has created a "soft" spot in the Pattern, why not. But the Eye of the World was an actual physical creation by Aes Sedai when attempt to liquify Saidin, apparently killing quite a few of those working on that project (of course they were cleansing it too.) But from all indications, I don't think this is likely.

I agree with tam. if this place becomes anything i think it will become another Blasted Land. the battle between the DO's taint and the evil of shadar logoth probably made that region about as baren and inhospitable as the blasted lands.

Not so true. When the group is first gonig to Shadar Logoth in TEOTW they have to go through heavy forests till finally getting there and the forests are still there in WH.

I very much doubt this. The eye was made purposefully AFTER the taint was put on Saidin, look at the book TeotW and read the part where they get to the eye (page 747 softcover) "They worked through the taint of the Dark One on saidin to make it pure, knowing that it would kill them all." That shows that it was made after the taint, meaning it wont be made till next turning anyways, and they all died, but Rand made the hole, and he is still alive, so how do you explain that?

i think that it is going to become a lake and a really nifty place and there are going to be supercool legends about it. it may become a holy place in the next age or two. how cool and strange would that be? though i dont think that it will be a new eye. recall that there was no eye before AOL and there needs to be no eye if rand does a good enough job sealing dark boy over there.

oh and in case this wasnt mentioned... Shaidar Lagoth was inadvertantly destroyed by the three mile (diamater) sphere of fighting evils. Not the intent of rand, i dont think he cared about the city, just the evil in it.

Ok so maybe not a new Eye... was just a thought anyways. But like Anubis said, what about a new center of legends and stories? I can't think RJ would put this massive hole in the ground where all that evil was and just leave it alone......

Its almost for certain legends or something will be put there. A capital of a future city, a hold of the Aiel remenants, heck maybe even a new river forming who knows.

Callandor, I already think o the hole where SL was as "Lake Aridhol" -- a perfectly round lake that will be linked with legends and myths in Ages to come.

well, ya know, look at it this way.

Dragonmount: rises above the ground, was essentially created by saidin, entirely mysterious because nobody can get to the top

Shadar Logoth: was also essential created by saidin, if in a different way;is below ground; and was a place most people also avoided.

Maybe there is some kind of connection there, or maybe it's just the last testament of Aridhol, or something.

*Ok so maybe not a new Eye... was just a thought anyways. But like Anubis said, what about a new center of legends and stories? I can't think RJ would put this massive hole in the ground where all that evil was and just leave it alone......*

I can think of 2 reasons why RJ put that big crater in the ground right now. First, it scared the Salidar AS crapless, causing them to begin talks with the BT, BIG plot device. Second, i forget when, but Fain was talking about how the dagger was the only part of him left, or something like that, and how he was going to make Rand pay for it.

Think about us right now, the general consencus is that a meteor made the dinos go extinct. Maybe some people in another age or going to think that a big meteor got rid of their dinos. Just a thought.
