Previous Categories: Egwene's Kidnapping

After reading CoT i came and read these, but i dont agree with any of them. I personally think that it was an accident. I mean, why not have Aes Sedai on the walls to help guard along with the soldiers. The soldiers cant protect against channeling. If someone channeled at the wall(after convincing themselves no one would get hurt) the soldiers couldn't defend, and Egwene's forces could come right in. It seems logical that there would be an Aes Sedai on the wall protecting against an attack at the wall with the power.

Also, you have to take into consideration that it was at the harbor. There would probably be at least a few Aes Sedai guarding there just to block the harbor using a wall of air or something like that using the power. If someone started channeling at the chains, it seems likely that they were trying to break them to get people in, so they channeled, figuring that they were in danger from being attacked by ships coming into Tar Valon.

They could have also just been waiting for a ship to come and that just happened to be the time that Egwene was turning the chains to cuendillar. Someone starts channeling at the chain, so they just counter it the best way they know how. After Egwene was in the water, she could have washed up into the harbor and the Aes Sedai could have taken her to somewhere to get some forkroot. If that is really what they gave her. There could have been some kind of discovery that the tower found out about that they used.

While it is possible that the taking of Egwene was accidental, I don't see it as likely. Jordan doesn't make major plot twists occur in accidents. Jordan gives us every reason to believe that someone was waiting for Egwene. Nicola leaving and knowing about cuendillar, and possibly the plan. Egwene's group of mediators meeting with the WT's. Halima practically controlling Egwene, and picking off each of the women Egwene wanted to use for the plan...meaning Halima was familiar with the details of it and could easily have passed it on to her contacts at the WT. It could be that Gawyn will be her escort to the WT...that would be a nice twist.

"We got more than we bargained for"

That one statement by the Aes Sedai dosing Egwene with Forkroot destroys any possibility that the capture of whoever came to convert that chain was an accident.

The ready presence of forkroot pretty much destroys any accidental capture argument as well.

Egwene wasn't who they were expecting to capture, but they were obviously there prepared and expecting to capture someone.

Why would the AS guard the chain? as far as they knew, the chain was almost invincible, and besides, AS do not have much strength in the Earth.

Wasnt somewhere it mentioned that the only weakness Tar Valon had was the harbor? I forget, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if im right wouldnt it be logical that other Aes Sedai knew this, and the Tower AS assumes the Rebel AS would know too, therefore trying to strike there?

Gareth Bryne told Egwene that to lay siege to Tar Valon and succeed, he would need to get ships into the harbors and sink them before the Tower AS raised the chains. Blocking the harbors stops food from going in after you control the surrounding villages. He also says Hawkwing's generals always failed because they never took the harbors. I think that's what was said about the harbors being weak.

the wt as were waiting for someone else and got egwene instead now it will be a matter of how she will escape. she can use the dream world to her advantage.

Egwene will only be able to use TAR when they get her off the forkroot. If they keep her on it, she is screwed.

egwene doesnt have to wait for the effects of the forkroot to wear off to use TAR, she only has to wait till she wakes up, it doesnt matter if she can channel or not since Dreaming doesnt require the ability to channel, as shown by the Aiel Wise Ones.

It was no accident. RJ doesn't leave random things to happen, and then he also doesn't leave it to the readr to try and figure out how or why. it will be explained later at least, but i think it was neccessary to capture her. With Halima's control, her battle with the White Tower may have gone awry, now as they try and behead Egwene, the rebels will swoop in through channeling and what not and take over, and im pretty sure it will be someone random like Gawyn or Sharima who saves Egwene directly.
