ho will live in the end?

by Brendan Reborn: 2004-04-05 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: The Last Battle

With Tarmon Gaidon close coming, i was wondering who will live through the end of the series, and who will die at or before tarmon gaidon.

First of all, we all know Rand has to die in order to save the world, but i believe that RJ said this in a way that the reader has to try to interpret the meaning of die. Maybe he only dies on some metaphoric level. I for one beleive RJ will leave us clueless whether he is alive or dead in the end.

Mat. My favorite character in the book. I think he will die in tarmon gaidon. I don't have any real evidence, it's just a strong belief.

Perrin is already struggling with the whole wolf thing. Maybe he won't die, but by the end of the series he is completely wolf.

I beleive that Elayne and Aviendha die, due to the fact that they give birth and it doesn't seem to fit in the story that their children will get to hear first hand about tarmon gaidon. You would think that age would fade to myth and yada-yada-yada.

Thom will die saving moiraine. Again, just a feeling.

The only other character i have a strong feeling about is Moridin. He will live on for another age, so that when the dragon comes again, in yet another turning, he will be there and thus brings us to the prologue of EOTW.

There's other characters i'm sure you guys want to talk about so have at it, and feel free to prove me wrong, just not to harsh guys. Thanks

Well, the three in a boat thing seems to suggest that the world thinks Rand dies, but he actually makes it out alive. I would like it if Perrin went wolf, but Mat's luck will prevent him from dying, in my opinion.

Darren: 2004-05-31

Is this a theory?

Anyhow. I'm sure this'll flag a lot of attention, but I'll put my two cents in while the slot's still new.

No major character will die, and few of the minor ones.

Mat certainly won't die. He'll be minus an eye, but he'll be there.

Perrin will be alive and well, and we'll get the straight goods on what that broken crown is, and what it means for him.

Nynaeve -sadly- will live, and help old Lan take Malkier back from what used to be the blight.

Thom and Moiraine will live. Moiraine will be queen of Cairhien (notice how he's dragging his feet on Elayne claiming the sun throne?) With the last battle finished, Moiraine will have the time to dedicate to her people. Thom will be king.

Egwene will live, but I do hope someone will take her down a few pegs before she becomes sole amyrlin.

Moridin'll be gone.

Maybe Rand will stay dead. Maybe not. I hope he will, but I don't think RJ has the stones to make his hollywood ending tragic. Just my opinion.

I kinda hope Ishy makes it out alive. Seems to me if he can survive Lews and his Hundred Companions, he can survive Rand and his buddies. It would be nice if he and Rand actually do fight each other over the eons and not just be made up rants from his skewered perspective. Hoping Cadsuane goes out with a bang though, and I really hope Alviarin gets what she deserves too.

snakes-n-foxes: 2004-05-31

Well, while we're on predictions.

Elayne will die (thus the one allusion to a tragic ending...and maybe an echoing of Ilyena Sunhair)...don't know how that fits in with the 3 in a boat thing...maybe one of the is egwene.

Mat...Mat's my favourite character in the book...I think he'll be mortally wounded.

Perrin...Perrin survives...wounded in some way that isn't physical.

Anyway...my belief is none of them will get out unscathed...how could you after battling the dark one ?

Zaela Sedai: 2004-05-31

It is not Egwene, Nicola had the Fortelling remember?

It is definately Elayne, Min , and Avi with Rand (who at this point I believe will still be alive)

TITLE: Lord of Chaos

***CHAPTER: 14 - Dreams and Nightmares

Suddenly Nicola spoke, sounding half-asleep. "The lion sword, the dedicated spear, she who sees beyond. Three on the boat, and he who is dead yet lives. The great battle done, but the world not done with battle. The land divided by the return, and the guardians balance the servants. The future teeters on the edge of a blade." ***

White and black towers balance one another out, and Seanchan and Randland need to iron out the whole nations thing and what now, However I thinkk most of the main characters including Rand (sorry Callandor) will remain alive.

Callandor: 2004-05-31

Come on, put some thought behind these ;).

**First of all, we all know Rand has to die in order to save the world, but i believe that RJ said this in a way that the reader has to try to interpret the meaning of die. Maybe he only dies on some metaphoric level. I for one beleive RJ will leave us clueless whether he is alive or dead in the end.**

No way. Rand dies. Dead physically. No magic Healing weave suddenly discovered, no beggar off into the sunset ending. He dies.

**Mat. My favorite character in the book. I think he will die in tarmon gaidon. I don't have any real evidence, it's just a strong belief.**

Mat is really the one I am undecided on. I don't want him to die, and personally hope he doesn't, but he just might. But I really don't think he will.

**Perrin is already struggling with the whole wolf thing. Maybe he won't die, but by the end of the series he is completely wolf.**

No way. Perrin will free Faile, they will stay together (yes, she will live!), and Perrin will survive the Last Battle.

**I beleive that Elayne and Aviendha die, due to the fact that they give birth and it doesn't seem to fit in the story that their children will get to hear first hand about tarmon gaidon. You would think that age would fade to myth and yada-yada-yada.**

Unless RJ is going to go for the Queen for a day route, I really doubt Elayne will die. I personally think she will give birth to her twins, which are Shivan and Calian reborn, right when Rand dies. She will be in Caemlyn, with Avi and Min, because they serve no purpose going to the Last Battle. Plus, if anything, you would think that would be the one event Rand would hold firm on that they will not go to.

**Thom will die saving moiraine. Again, just a feeling.**

Nah, they have to be at the Last Battle (Min's viewing). I think they will live, but Moiraine won't become Queen of Cairhien. She didn't want it in New Spring, she ain't gonna want it now.

**The only other character i have a strong feeling about is Moridin. He will live on for another age, so that when the dragon comes again, in yet another turning, he will be there and thus brings us to the prologue of EOTW.**

Moridin dies in a fight with Rand.

Shaidar Haran will be killed by Padan Fain, via the Shadar Logoth dagger.

Finally, Fain will be killed when he stabs Rand in the side (his twice wounded side), with the Shadar Logoth dagger, and Rand will take more and more of saidin into him, and kill himself, Fain, and the last of Shadar Logoth, by OD'ing on the Power, LTT style.

Logain will lead the circle that will seal the Dark One's prision with the CK (yes, both sexes). He will live on afterwards.

Egwene will sadly live on.

Lan and Nynaeve will survive, but Malkier is gone. I doubt they will reclaim it from the Blight, but there is hope, since the Blight did retreat after the battle with Ishy in TEOTW. So maybe :).

Kinslayer: 2004-05-31

I believe Rand, Mat and Perrin will be alive after TG. Their status as ta'veren will fade or completely disappear and pave the way for other Heroes to rebuild Randland and generate their own legends. The world will be broken, but not to the same extent as during the Age of Legends.

Moraine will live, but not as Queen of Carhien. She didn't want the title when she was raised and I can't see why she would want the title after TG.

Nynaeve and Lan will settle down somewhere in the Borderland. I can't imagine Lan resurrecting Malkier. If Shayol Ghul is the battle ground, it is unlikely the Blight will be habitable lands (even without the Dark Ones taint).

Egwene and Logain will joint rule the Aes Sedia and Asha'man as one organisation. They will overseer the rebuilding of Randland and act as Guardians of Peace (eventually moving towards the Age of Legends structure).

ya'll are being very pessimistic. come on people, our good guys are better than this wheel has seen in ages. i am pretty sure the clue is how rand dies, whether it is a part of himm, oh lets say Lews Therin, or maybe LEws lives and rand dies, i dunno, but someone will come out of the Dragon situation, maybe a baby.

i think Mat lives Perrin lives, Faile might die, and i think maybe Berelain becomes his new love. falcon hawk deal, at some point Perrin is in white, maybe about to die ceremonial or something, she rescues him, remember when Faile talked about if she died, she would want a strong wife for him instead, no pages sorry.

well as we have seen Berelian and Faile have beef, but only because their so similar, Faile dying wish would be that Perrin goes with Berelain. but that could be a little outrageous a theory.

and than there is Min, the only one of the three loves who might die in my opinion. because it seems the most outrageous, its pprobably true, she dies trying to save Rand or something, and the one who sees beyond might be Nicola (Foretelling). but the weird reason Min saw Aviendha having two or maybe four, is that Aviendha adopts Min's twins after she dies. I remember somewhere in the book it says Min cant read herself or her own future comes out very hazy.

but i think Thom and Moiraine will live, the new queen of Carhien, ta-da!! Moiraine and Thom...duh! Perrin will take the Broken Crown of Saldaea and marry Berelain, the First of Mayene uniting even more nations because Elayne will be queen of Andor. and she marries Rand who is King of Illian and Lan and Nynaeve will resurrect Malkier and take Sharina Melloy as their advisor, and make a whole new Malkier while Juilan marries Amathera the queen of Ghealdan. and....sorry, i kinda went on a ramp, but i stand by my theory.

Dorindha: 2004-06-01

I'm still unsure about Rand dying, but the three on the boat thing seems to suggest all his women will stay alive. The age fading to myth etc has no bearing on Elayne/Aviendha's children as it takes a lot longer than one generation for that to happen.

10

Daekyras: 2004-06-01

anyone ever notice that the characters that most people seem not to like in the books are female?

I for one find most(min and tuon are exception) to be really annoying. If most of them die, i'd be quite happy. Their respective husbands could find new brides. Except Lan who will be mortally wounded killing Shadar Haran in the mother of all sword battles.

11

Great Lord of the Dark: 2004-06-01

Rand will die, live again, and die again. The reason is that there will be two empires left after the Last Battle: The Seanchan, which includes Mat, and the West, which includes Ghealdan, Mayene, Saldaea, Andor, Manetheren, which could all fall under Perrin's dominion since he has links to all these places. Egwene gets the White Tower.

All that points to Rand retaining little if anything, so I figure he dies a final death.

12

timetorollthedice: 2004-06-01

Just a few additions.

RJ says that he will leave some stories open to give his world a feel that it still lives after the series ends. If Lan is going to rebuild Malkier, that will be one of the stories the is left open. RJ could never open and close a thread like that in the last 2 books.

Berelain and Perring will not get together. Berelain and Galad will get together. Min had a viewing about Berelain that she will be with (or something) a man in white. They are both the most beautiful of each gender, it seems to follow that they will find each other.

All the main characters will live with the possible exception of Rand. Bashere will die, Taim will die. I just hope the series is finished before RJ dies. I don't know how old he is but I would hate to not be able to finish the series.

mat1489: 2004-06-01

I have some kind of naggin sensation that Tam might be involved in the last battle. Mabye he joins the army again takes back his old position and leads the armies into tarmon gaidon.

14

Zaela Sedai: 2004-06-02

Yeah, I'd have to agree about Tam, I would also have to say that he and Rand will need to get together before the LB. I think that a visit to The Two Rivers is in order soon. Especially with traveling being so easy. What a great place to learn how to laugh and cry again.

Anubis: 2004-06-02

**Except Lan who will be mortally wounded killing Shadar Haran in the mother of all sword battles. **

oh wow... so many reasons why that would not work.... but that does not change the fact that this would be the coolest thing ever. i could totally see lan walking toward the dark ones right hand with nothing but a sword and a pair of huge brass ones.

ANYHOO my predictions.

morridin: dead or sealed. properly this time. rand seals the bore in the proper method and moridin is inside it or dead.

the forsaken: maybe one survives.... but im gonna say they are all toast

rand: he dies but survives and lives as a humble... not a beggar but maybe like a priest? kinda like mau dib. humble and whatnot.

matt: i worry about matt. i really like him and want him to live but i give him 50/50 odds. BUT (and listen good RJ) IF he dies it better be a death worthy of song! if mat dies he better kill SH seal the dark one, cut fains head off, kill morridin, and die valliantly surrounded by millions of trollocs and thousands of fades (and killing them all btw). alone. (shouting curses the whole way)

perrin: he lives. maybe a life changing wound that forces him to slow down, but mostly hes ok.

the girls: it would not displease me if egwene died. it could even be glorious. nyna... no. min no. avi... possibly. elyane... no. (tho it would be a shocker)

thom: give the old man some happyness.

moi: also same with her

noal: he dies but doing somthing cool

fain: LET IT DIE

bashere and bryne: sadly enough i say these two are toast, as well as the other captains and most of the clan chiefs.

dedoublya: 2004-06-08

In reference to Aviendha, Min said that she would have 4 babies, perfectly healthy, but something was odd. She didn't know what.

There could be something there, maybe Aviendha dies in childbirth?

And why does everyone hate Egwene?

While i'm here, something strikes as odd about the New Spring Novel. Lan meets and sees a load of people who used to be Malkier, but are now just getting on with their lives, people who fleed when it was getting destroyed or whatever, but Nynaeve when seeing Isam claims that Lan is the last. How can this be if there are a load of Malkier spread out? It seems ridiculous that they were all concentrated in the one land and wiped out, doesn't it?

17

Callandor: 2004-06-08

**And why does everyone hate Egwene?**

She's annoying, arrogant, and a general dunce.

**In reference to Aviendha, Min said that she would have 4 babies, perfectly healthy, but something was odd. She didn't know what.**

An idea was proposed that since having 4 babies seems quite excessive in Randland, even with the OP, that Min's recent bonding of Rand, with Avi and Elayne, that her viewing of Avi got mirrored about herself. So, if Avi is viewed as having four kids, it could be that Min will have two, and Avi will have two, the mirroring effect producing a viewing of four children.

Not the most solid theory, but hey, seems elegant ;).

charliec: 2004-06-09

I think he's the last of the Malkieri in the sense of being the only one who remains faithful- thinking of himself as Malkieri, and hoping to avenge his country.

19

Brendan Reborn: 2004-06-09

I think that the people in new spring weren't from malkier, they would just follow his banner should he ever raise it. The only malkieri left, that i knew of, were Bukama, Lan, and the other man with arafellen braids (can't think of name)

20

Anubis: 2004-06-10

I mostly hate egwene because if I ever met her we would not get along. I think I would have an easier time with Nynaeve.

21

Callandor: 2004-06-10

**I think he's the last of the Malkieri in the sense of being the only one who remains faithful- thinking of himself as Malkieri, and hoping to avenge his country.**

Charlie has it pretty much sealed. RJ's take on it is that since the Malkier do not have a country anymore, they slowly absorb more and more into the other Borderland cultures. If you've ever seen Titan AE, this is prime example. Without a real place to exist and call their own, their culture dies out, and only a few remain alive to be that culture.

22

charliec: 2004-06-11

Who will live in the end... well hopefully RJ, or we'll never get the last book... Darnperfectionistslowwriter...

Cor Shan: 2004-06-12

Callandor you said -

***

Logain will lead the circle that will seal the Dark One's prision with the CK (yes, both sexes). He will live on afterwards.

***

Logain can't seal the Bore, only the Dragon can do that.
