An Hour With Harriet

2012-04-30: I had the great pleasure of speaking with Harriet McDougal Rigney about her life. She's an amazing talent and person and it will take you less than an hour to agree.

ow this is going to end

Previous Categories: The Last Battle

First, let me say this is my first time posting here.

Now, I believe this will be a totally different LB than ever before. It has been hinted at that this time was different because the dark one could break the wheel. Thus, forcing world to continue in an endless age of darkness.

What I believe will happen is the opposite. I think things are happening differently this time because this is the last age. After the LB the world will continue in an endless age of light. I just don't believe that Jordan will make this LB anything like the ones that have been written about. This time it will be different and the wheel will be broken, but by Rand.

Please let me know what you all think.

But what leads you to believe that this Last Battle is any different from the Last Battle of the Third Age in a previous turning of the Wheel? Differences do occur between turnings, but the outcomes are "controlled" unless the DO breaks free. Rand has healed the taint, and now must fix the Bore. Also, the main problem with what you are suggesting is that we have read poetic verse from the Fourth Age concerning the time of Rand in the Third Age, so apparently the world does move on to its normal Fourth Age, and most likely will move forward to its normal Fifth, Six, and Seventh, before the Wheel begins a new turning...I wonder what the end of the turning is like? Just some thoughts, good first theory.

I'm going to have to agree with Tamyrlin on this one. We have seen evidence from the Fourth Age talking about the Dragon. This Age is no different than the last Third Age. It will lead into the Fourth Age and continue its cycle.

I submitted a theory very similar to this one recently that has yet to be posted but i am not saying it is the case only that it is a possibility and here is why....Was the last battle called "The Last Battle" or was it somthing like battle with the dark one i dont recall ever hearing it being called the Last Battle in previous ages or anything else for that matter however you never know

the point is though if the dark one is a constant and Rand were to actually destroy the Dark One which has been mentioned before then that would be a constant no longer there for the wheel could no longer continue to turn because history would be unable to repeat itself if you have a wheel with 3 spokes and you take one away the wheel colapses therefore time would either stop or continue on in a straight line there is nothing to suggest that this is not possible unless it has been said somwhere that the DO cant be destroyed also i remeber a quote where the dark one (probly ishy) said to Rand they had battled a thousand times and somtimes rand won and somtimes the DO won and he says that this time it would be diffrent indicating that things can be changed or atleast the DO thinks so and the DO has much knowledge and i dont think he would say somthing that was compleatly impossible
therfore i think this is a Valid idea however i am not sure weather or not i belive this will be how it all ends. if the DO is destroyed the everything becomes new and Fate is in the people of the worlds own hands where for our heros it never really has been maybe RJ will end it on this new note of freedom because Rand (LTT) is a slave of the wheel and has no real choices thus not truly free

The DO exists outside the Wheel of Time so he isnt woven into the Pattern of Age, hence he has no soul, hence he has no bodily form, hence there is NO way to destroy him.

theres prolly a way... but it aint gonna happen. complete universal destruction might pull it off... but i dont think that the pattern can affect the dark one or the creator like that. althought lanfear seems to think maybe, or maybe she just planned on imprisonment?

Re: Truly the last battle

"No... Every Age is repeated, there is nothing that makes this Age any different from any other turnings of the Wheel. The Wheel is endless." --Robert Jordan

Period. ;-)

Remembered this from before. rj seems to say that everything happens as part of the wheel, the LB has happened before and will happen again no matter what

Shadow Bane: 2003-06-23

-Rand, the DO and Fain will fight at TG.

-Fain will kill\seal DO

-Rand will survive and the duty he has been doing for so long will be gone(death is lighter than a feather duty heavier than a mountain)

Callandor: 2003-06-23

Can't kill the DO. Hes not in the Pattern, he doesn't have a thread, he doesn't have a body to destroy.

Sure wish I had found this site sooner. Recently submitted a theory similar to these before I found this thread. (Don't worry, I've already asked Tam to ignore it).

But just to address Tam's comments about the fourth age I would ask, how many millenia would it take before someone realised the ages were no longer repeating? Might it seem like an age?

I imagined a conversation something like this

al'Chuck - " Hey, al'Bob?"

al'Bob - "Yeah al'Chuck. Whadaya want?"

al'Chuck - "I was just thinking. It seems like it's been ages since the last age. 'Sup with that?"

Oh well. Another good theory shot to he....ummm the DO's prison.
