inns and the P ortal Stones

by The Leveler: 2003-08-21 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: The World of the Finns

I think the Finns created the portal stones. They probably have the capability to create the portal stones. And the Mark that Olver made in the air (a triangle with a wavy line) sounds like a PS mark. Also the Portal Stone worlds have different time scales, a day in one is a year in Rand's. What's to say that one isn't a world of the past and a world of the future, therefore allowing the Finn's to predict things. They can make things like the medalion, so the Stones might not be beyond them.

TITLE: Lord of Chaos, CHAPTER: 33 - Courage to Strengthen

"Well," Olver muttered, "we almost won. Another game, Mat?" Not waiting for an answer, he made the sign that opened the game, a triangle and then a wavy line through it, then chanted the words. '"Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to dazzle, iron to bind.' Mat, why do we say that? There is no fire, no music and no iron."

1) One mark is a triangle with a wavy line through it.

2)A triangle standing on its point in a circle was the sign for Randland

3)Two parallel wavy line crossed by an odd squiggle

4)Two triangles surrounded by forked lightnings, one ging left, the other right.

Also the portal Stones in trolloc world were twisted/curved column

The columns after Mat when in the first time were tall and twisted.

I disagree that the Finns made the Portal Stones, even though it is interesting idea. One Power is required, as far as we can tell, to use the Portal Stones. Also, the doorways that lead to their realm are ter'angreal. I would agree that a Portal Stone could take you to their realm, but they fear the One Power, and don't appear like they are able to channel. But I have been wrong before, other comments anyone?

the triangles and wavy lines also appear on the doorway ter'angreal... yes, they are probably symbols for aelfinn and eelfinn... there may even be a way to enter the finns' lairs via portal stones. the symbols, though were most probably thought of by people (humans)...

Agree with Tam.

**They can make things like the medallion, so the Stones might not be beyond them.**

RJ said the medalion comes from the AoL, how it got to Mat, we have ideas but the confirmed answer.

I agree that the portal stones are similar to the world of the finns, but they werent created by them. I think TAR, the finns, and the other worlds are all connected in some way. The symbols probably are related, i think it is a pre-AoL language or something.

My thoughts exactly, Vaughn--the symbols are like hieroglyphics. But one question: If the *finn worlds can be reached by Portal Stone, what does this do to the whole Moiraine Rescue Mission?

I can't remember where, but the Stones were there before the AoL, and somewhere it says that they were from an earlier age, and oculd be used without channeling.

Leveler: The idea that the Stones could possibly be used without the Power was some B.S. that Rand came up with to hide the fact that he could channel from Loial and Hurin.

As for the Stones being connected to the 'Finns, I just can't see it. As was previously stated, they're used by the Power, and the 'Finns despise the Power. You could probably enter the ToG with one, but I don't think any of the characters have thought of that possibility at all.
