But this doesn't really make sense. The Borderlanders met near the spire, and there's no mention of cliffs. Indeed, it's a shallow bowl, which would indicate concavity, not sheer walls.

Ordinarily I wouldn't nitpick this (OK, I might), but your theory rests on the Dream taking place here, when the connection is very tenuous.
