Default Which minor characters do you want to see in aMoL?

Which minor characters would you like to see in the last book?

I mean minor characters that we haven't seen in a while.
It doesn't have to be POVs from them.
They should do something cool or interact with the main cast for a while.

My pick have been absent since TPoD.
I'd like to see Uno Nomesta .
Either having a long, civilized conversation with Cadsuane or do something really awesome.

I agree with Uno. I was recently thinking about how we haven't seen much of him lately.

Suffa - I liked her comeuppance but I still want more
Liandrin - I want some of the "good guys" to see her with the Seanchan
Hurin - His last scene was sad so I need some happy
Cenn Buie - He needs to stab something with a pitchfork in the Last Battle
Bela - She needs to kick a trolloc in the snout
Seta - I really want to see her reunite with Egwene
Teslyn - I just really like her

I want more Slayer. Not sure if he counts as minor or not but he's hardly major.

NEW (LOONEY) THEORY: Slayer is Demandred.

How about Jeaine Caide, Berylla Naron, and Rianna Andomeran - we haven't seen them since Moghedien gave them their secret missions in tFoH. Would be interesting perhaps to know what they had been up to.

Lanfear breaks with the Dark One for Wil al'Seen? Does he even shave yet, per Perrin's PoV's? Though Lanfear does strike me the type to enjoy that kind of situation..

Jana, I'm with you on wanting to see Seta, Novice of the Tower, encountering Egwene, the Amyrlin. I suppose that'll be happening, I hope its on screen.

I liked both Joline and Alanna for some reason. I snicker at their interations with Mat and Rand respectively. I'm sure we'll see or hear of events with Alanna considering her bond with Rand, but I hope both get some active attention of some sort.

And its not a minor character I suppose - the topic of a Seta-Egwene meeting made me think of it - but I've been really wanting to see Galad learn who Rand is.

I'm wondering if Verin mentioned it in her letter to Galad, but I doubt that would be the entire point of the letter.

Hard to say; there might be some obscure prophecy about it. A dark prophecy, maybe. The Shadow knows who Rand's mother is.

I assume that it has already happened off-screen in ToM. Joline sent a letter to Setalle Anan telling her of the safe arrival of her party at the White Tower. And that was in the famous "Stump" and "Boots" scene between Mat and Setalle.

Edit: Answering the topic question, I'd like to see Loial come back and have a nice contribution. And I'm hoping to see Dobraine's status redeemed and his loyalty rewarded.

If minor characters could be organized into a fighting force then the forces of light would vastly outnumber the forces of shadow. With that being said, I do love the WoT's focus on all its characters and not just the big ones.

We don't know the timing for certain. It can be argued either way, but I think Egwene and her group left the White Tower before Seta/etc. arrived there.

The following three groups of statements/thoughts all occured on the same day:

Elayne (about Merrilor while she was still in Caemlyn):
Quote:
The meeting would happen in one day, if his original deadline still held.
Setalle:
Quote:
"I received a letter from Joline today."

"She didn't ask for anything. She merely wanted to send word that they had arrived safely in Tar Valon."
For now let's assume that Joline wrote the letter on the same day it arrived. At the end of this post I wrote some more about that.

Egwene:
Quote:
"Is that one new?" she asked, gesturing toward a smaller force that had taken up a position just below the ruins.

"They came on their own," Gawyn said. "Farmers, mostly. Not really a true army; most don't have swords. Pitchforks, wood axes, quarterstaffs. I assume al'Thor sent them. They started wandering in yesterday."

...

The Andoran Queen had certainly taken her time. Only one day until the time specified by Rand.

So, if a new army started arriving "yesterday," that means Egwene has been at Merrilor for at least two days, and I'm assuming more than two considering that Elayne had "certainly taken her time." Since Egwene is waiting for all these armies she summoned, I would assume that she'd want her group to be there first.

Therefore I think Seta arrived at the White Tower at least a couple days after Egwene took the Aes Sedai to Merrilor. I suppose it could be argued that Joline/Teslyn would want to join them at Merrilor, but there's no reason for them to bring a couple novices with them. Even if they really need to tell their story of what happened, it can wait until everyone gets back to the Tower.

Here's the stuff on the Randland Postal Service:

Gawyn PoV near the Royal Palace Travelling Grounds:
Quote:
Blessedly, a Kinswoman was on duty here-bleary-eyed, but waiting in case emergency messages needed to be sent.
Quote:
"From Tar Valon," the servant said, bowing. "It came through a gateway."
Now, the first one does say emergency messages, and the second was from the Keeper. But I still think they would take any message from an Aes Sedai, and the first quote was at night time so I think the mention of emergency messages was because of the time, not because that's the only kind they'll accept. So I think they would have taken Joline's letter, then her letter would have been picked up by the Royal Palace RLPS branch and one of the carriers would have brought it to Setalle. Even if it took a day to be delivered, Egwene arrived at Merrilor at least two days before Setalle received the letter.

Just checked the TOM Calendar and saw two variations. One has Mat leaving for the Tower of Ghenji 8 days prior to Rand's arrival in Merrilor and the other has him leaving to Ghenjei one day before Merrilor.

If Egwene met Joline before going to Merrilor, then she is probably better prepared to defend against the Seanchan. If not, then will probably mean that Egwene has to meet Leilwin and co. after the Seanchan attack to fulfill her dream of being rescued by a Seanchan with a sword over her shoulder.

One day.

Quote:
"We are sovereigns," Tenobia snapped. "I'm not going to bow to you as quickly as my uncle did. We have to speak about that, by the way."

"Our oaths are to the lands we protect," Easar said.

"As you wish," Rand said, rising. "I once gave you an ultimatum. I phrased it poorly, and I regret that, but I remain your only path to the Last Battle. Without me, you will remain here, hundreds of leagues from those lands you swore to protect." He nodded to each of them, then helped Min to her feet. "Tomorrow, I meet with the monarchs of the world. After that, I am going to go to Shayol Ghul and break the remaining seals on the Dark One's prison. Good day."

Quote:
"Each day at noon," Grady said, repeating Perrin's orders to him. "Into that exact spot." He smiled. "Take care you don't get your toes cut off when it appears, Master Cauthon."

"I'll do my best," Mat said. "I'm attached to those toes." He took a breath and stepped through the gateway. Quiet Noal followed, smelling of determination. That one was a lot tougher than he looked. Thom nodded to Perrin, mustaches wagging, then hopped through. He was spry, though he still bore the stiff leg from fighting that Fade two years ago.

Light guide you, Perrin prayed, raising a hand to the three as they trudged along the river's bank.

Moiraine. Perrin should send word to Rand. The colors appeared, showing Rand speaking with a group of Borderlanders. But . . . no. Perrin couldn't tell Rand until he was certain she lived. To do otherwise would be too cruel, and would be an invitation for Rand to meddle in Mat's mission.

Perrin turned as the portal closed.

...

Everyone seen to, Perrin took a deep breath, then walked up the column and stepped through the gateway.

Come quickly, Rand, he thought, colors blossoming in his vision. I can feel it starting.

Rand did meet with other Borderlanders, but it was too far in advance of Merrilor for Perrin to have been going during that time, plus his meeting with the Borderlander leaders was one chapter before Boots and two chapters before Mat left for Ghenjei (which is when Perrin saw Rand).

Grady will be opening the gateway for Mat/etc. on the day that Rand is meeting with everyone.

Just a thought, but if the Pattern is breaking down so much due to the DO's touch, is there any reason to think that time is also somewhat funky as well? Trying to match up "who did what when" in exact relation to others may not carry much meaning.

No. There's a reason RJ had assistants trying to help him keep the timing right (with moon phases and stuff) and why they tried hard to keep doing it even though the books were split. There are several interview answers you could look up from Brandon showing where the time was off and no one caught it. Not because of the Dark One but because it was too much to keep track of. But that was more in tGS and the earlier part of ToM before the characters were closer together in time.
