2012-04-30: I had the great pleasure of speaking with Harriet McDougal Rigney about her life. She's an amazing talent and person and it will take you less than an hour to agree.
2012-04-24: Some thoughts I had during JordanCon4 and the upcoming conclusion of "The Wheel of Time."

Is that an eclipse happening in the sky?

The Tor article mentioned 'as the sun is disappearing' or something like that, so it seems a safe enough bet.

Burn my soul, there's no debate.
Clearly the two pictured are the Lady Eronaile and the Lady Dalisar.

Burn me, it would not be the first time a man is caught between a . . . rock and . . . a hard place.

I find it funny that Egwene might casually not wear her stole to the act that defines the Amyrlin (Watcher of the Seals), but Moiraine, a kidnap victim for 10 months who has a vitally important mission, absolutely must have found another useless blue stone to stick on her forehead instead of, you know, rushing to get to Rand in time. Glad to see other people riffing off the idea that Rand already died before this. I always liked Terez's theories on Rand's death pre-confrontation, and IMO this cover and confirmation of The Circle to Wield Callandor is a pretty strong hint that way. I mean, it could still be that she solo's Ishamael while or just after Rand is doing his thing, and the link kills him...but I think he'll need to have that taken care of well before he's actually heading down to Shayol Ghul. And as powerful as LTT/Ishamael tier is based on the two recent trolloc massacres, it doesn't seem likely Alivia could handle Ishy alone (before even touching the True Power usage). If it is one, then it isn't going to be a full eclipse.
It is clear that there is most of a circle of sunlight visible around the Moon (if that is what is blocking the light), and that means that it will never get truly dark. Of course, a solar eclipse only ever darkens a small bit of the Earth; on most of the planet it can't be observed at all. Since this DO brought darkness is supposed to be worldwide, it seems likely that it would be something more significant than a simple conjunction of some heavenly bodies. Then again, the ancient Chinese believed that during a solar eclipse, a dragon was eating the sun. Maybe they weren't as far off as we now generally think. |

On the other hand it'd be all dramatic and sad for Moiraine and Nynaeve to have to bring his body to his womenfolk. |

The baby in the cradle could be symbolic of Lan's oath, and its fulfillment.

The cover is Sofa King awesome. But Rand looks like he's 40.

And remember the changes in Rand's face that Min notices. He has lines around his eyes, now.

Anywhere else, I'd say that it is almost certainly Moiraine, and leave it at that. However, this is Theoryland, so...
It could also be Lanfear. Min was saying that Rand would die without a woman who was dead and gone, but two people went through the arch. We have no way of knowing that she was referring to Moiraine, and not Lanfear. Moreover, my friend contends that the Forsaken would still be Aes Sedai (arguing that they never lost the social status when they became Dreadlords in the AoL). I don't particularly agree, but if we accept that, then she meets one criteria. Lanfear has been around since early book 2, and we know she was looking in on his dreams earlier than that. "The beginning" is a totally fungible concept. The Great Hunt many would still consider to be the beginning. That would qualify as the second criteria. Plus, she knows more about the Bore than probably anybody alive (with the possible exception of Moridin). As a potential Light-convert, her knowledge of the Dark One would also be invaluable. |

Interesting take. I wil admit I would like Lanfear to redeem herself, at least a little, before she dies in a fiery car crash...errrrrr...balefire accident.
. But I picture her as super short and chubby now.

I miss my "Moi and Lanfear body swap" theory.
