ale Aiel Dreadlords

by oldmanfish: 2002-11-06 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

For 3000 years, male Aiel channellers have gone to the Blight to "kill the Dark One". Wouldn't this be a great source of Dreadlords for the last battle? Even if only a small percentage of them were captured and turned involuntarily to the Dark Side through the circles of 13, it would still be a significant number of Dreadlords. The only other sources are the Black Ajah and the Asha'man similarly converted from the Black Tower. (And of course those we don't know from outside of Randland).

Interesting idea, I hadn't thought about it...but you can take the Luc Isam example and make a case that the DO uses anyone he can, those Aiel would make easy fodder to capture and train.

If for the past 3000 years, the DO has been getting dtreadlords, rand is in BBIIGG trouble. can you imagine male channelers, aiel male channelers, thousands of them, against rand and his couple of hundred Asha'man? I sure can't. i have one thing left to say : Good luck Rand!

But did the DO grant them immortality too. I don't think he would. Plus most of the Aiel male channelers go off to fight the DO. They would have to be turned with the 13 and 13. Not likely. I think the dreadlords that Rand will face at the Last Battle will be from the Black Tower and led by Taim.

and maybe a couple of aiel dreadlords, the wise ones didn't tell rand or anyone else if their were any recent aiel male channelers. and by the way, how many followers Taim has ?

the problem i have with this theory is that as far as we know, there aren't 13 channelers sitting at Shayol Ghul to be used to turn the aiel.

ooooo, i like the idea. I vote yes. Maybe the DO has a pocket dimension, or stasis box type thing, or maybe he just grants them immortality. It sounds like a pretty good recruting method to me.

This is a good theory. However I will not even think about the 13/13 circle to turn people, personaly I think RJ's invention of this was a blunder. It is bound to be either feeble or leave everybody wondering why the DO or the Forsaken didn't just order the BA to link 13 as meny times as possible, provide each circle with a myrdraal. Send a couple of fists of Trollocs to the waygate in Tar Valon to occupy the warders and then let the circle roam thru the WT(I know it has holes but i'm sure you catch my drift)

but even apart from that it is an excellent theory. If all male(Aiel) channelers has gone for 3000 yrs, my guess is that statistics alone would suggest that a number would have to be DF's when going. I don't think you could tempt an Aiel to turn the have WAY too much stregnth of caracter for that. but the percentage of Darkfriend could add up seriously. Remember that channelers have rather extended lifespans. But I didn't need this to think Rand was in trouble, he was before as well :o)

Only problem - why haven't we seen or heard of even one yet?

Not sure Dreadlords have to be male though... the Black Ajah would also be able to provide enough

If you mean male Aiel channelers, we have.

**TITLE: Shadow Rising, CHAPTER: 26 - The Dedicated

Some of the wagons were burning. The dead lay where they had fallen. The horses had already been driven off, except for those still hitched to a few wagons that had been emptied onto the ground. For once he took no notice of the crated things the Aes Sedai had given into Aiel charge, toppled carelessly into the dirt. It was not the first time he had seen that, or dead Aiel, but this time he could not care. The men with the swords and spears and bows, the men who had done the killing, were loading those empty wagons. With women. He watched Rhea, his daughter, shoved up into a wagon box with the others, crowded together like animals by laughing killers. The last of his children. Elwin dead of hunger at ten, Sorelle at twenty of fever her dreams told her was coming, and *Jaren, who threw himself off a cliff a year ago, at nineteen, when he found he could channel*. Marind, this morning.**
