ow Egwene Will Fix the Tower

by Shell: 2001-04-06 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: Rebels vs. White Tower

After Egwene arrives, she will begin the seige by using her abilities with Earth to block the harbors (she mentioned somewhere that she would have to test sisters for abilities with Earth before they reached Tar'Valon). She will bond Gawain, though I haven't decided yet whether he will come to her openly right away, or if he will be a snake in Eliada's basket for a while. We know that Messana is in the tower, and that Swain hid the horn of Valier somewhere there.

Mat will be heading to Tar'Valon, and Thom will have the letter with the names of the sisters who unlawfully genteled his nephew, and I can't think of a better time for it to be used. I think it is highly likely that Messana is Danelle, that brown who was restoring the library, and I also think that Swain hid the horn somewhere there.

When the confrontation between Egwene and Eliada comes, I think that Messana will come out in the open with the horn and gather the black ajah. She will attempt to blow the horn, and finding that it does not work, will battle the other aes'sadi for the control of the tower. This will lead to the bloodshed and the battle that Min saw in her viewing. That Egwene will win and gain control of the tower is certain, how and with what cost is the real question. I believe that she will kill Messana, destroy the black ajah, and recapture the horn. Along the way she could accuse Eliada of unlawful dealings with men who could channel, if Thom had shown her Moraine's letter. She could not deny it, since she had genteled men without giving them a trial, but everyone else would think that she had set up Logain as a false dragon. That alone would be enough to end her political career.

If she finds out about saidin being cleansed and if she could say that Caudensaine backed the claim up, the red ajah would be at her mercy being in danger of their ajah being disolved. If Egwene does kill Messana, the rest of the tower would not complain about her being the Armlyen.

Yes, I know this crazy and that there are a few holes, but I will try to fill them. Than Messana does not know that Mat already blew the horn is possible, since Forsaken do not always (meaning VERY rairly ) tell eachother anything. The second is that Eliada may realize what Egwene is trying to do and may say that she did not set up Logain as a false dragon. Two things may prevent this, one being that Eliada may still be in shock over the forsaken being loose, that she might not relize what Egwene is trying to do. The other is the possibility that Egwene has the tallent of creating the same effect as tav'eren (remember when Talmanes asked her if she was shure that she was not ta'veren too?).

While initially I wanted the White Tower to be rent in two literally, I am starting to believe that the two towers will strike a deal, send out the whites and let the negotiations begin.

But I don't think Thom will be involved in toppling Elaida. The Black Ajah may leave the tower in all of the confusion. Gawyn and Egwene meeting up is very possible.

Has anyone thought that since Traveling is back, why not open a gate into their old novice rooms and break in from the inside?

While I am not sure about Mesanna reacting the way you expect, I do find it ...interesting that there is a Forsaken in both The White Tower and in the Salidar based camp. Likely neither one knows where the other is (Mesanna may not even know 'Halima' exists!)

On Tam's little addition, I'll go one better: Didn't Mog teach them how to disguise themselves and 'hide' their ability to channel. With either of those tricks, they can get in to\he tower, shield and 'kidnap' anyone...even Elaida and/or Alvairin. I don't expect the kidnapping but think of the other possibilities...

Ok, that's all good, but I think you'r a bit over the top. I think Egwene will indeed take the tower, from Elaida, and that Gawyn will help her, but Thom, thats' stretching it. That Egwene will root out the black Ajha and topple Messana at teh same time as she takes the tower is compåletely out of the question. She may find out more of where loyality's lie, but RJ has a tendancy to not let that many conflicts be resoplved by one action. So Egwene will take the tower back, and probably defeat the black ajah along with Nynaveave and Elayne, but not all in one go.

"Has anyone thought that since Traveling is back, why not open a gate into their old novice rooms and break in from the inside?"

Egwene has adressed this issue several times while thinking to herself and to Bryne. She has stated that she didnt want it to resort to Aes Sedai killing each other in the streets. They need every Aes Sedai alive that they possibly can.

i dont know. i think thom and elidia have a score to settle, and i think it will be settled, but i dont think this is the time of the place for it.

Anubis: 2004-04-26

i think black ajah in the open = screwed. theres a reason they work in the shadows. also the seanchan will likely be involved. almost certainly. how do you explain this?

and besides, messana is in a world of pain, i dont imagine her leading anything at the moment.

dragonsceptor: 2004-04-26

IIRC, Fain took the horn from the tower and Alvairin could not stop him.

Grady: 2004-04-27

I think that before Egwene can repair the Tower it has to be leveled. Now that the Seanchan are making their move on Tar Valon has got me really hoping for a battle in TV itself. And since Egwene is a prisoner in the Tower it opens up an opportunity for her to absolutley freak out when they appear.(she'll never be a prisoner again!!) sorry. About the Thom and Eliada thing, I've hoped that he could present his letter when both the rebel and Tower's halls were deciding who would make up the new Hall, and it would put the nail in Eliada's coffin, and Katerine's, and Tarna's.

Brendan Reborn: 2004-04-27

Seeing as how the shadow has control over alot of the key players, (indirectly or directly) I don't see why the BA isn't involved, and egwene will be turned to the shadow by the BA and it's gonna be hard for Rand to kill her, because he can't kill girls. It will take perrin :)

**IIRC, Fain took the horn from the tower and Alvairin could not stop him.**

No, Fain took the dagger from Tar Valon; he had no time to go get the Horn of Valere.

Thanks Callandor...I probably should have gone back and read that little bit...

Dragonscepter:

It was not that Alviarin couldn't stop Fain, she chose not to. While he was in the storeroom she had plenty of opportunity to call the Warders, and she tells him that, but chose to allow him to go.
