ibling rivalry

Besides being WAY too calm about her sister's murder, wouldn't she have felt something being as she was maintaining a link with her. There is no evidence that the link between the two to keep Ispan shielded was ever broken.
Also it was already stated that the link could be maintained while one of the sisters slept..Vandene should have felt something...And where exactly was she all night that kept her from her own tent?

I can't remember the details of the killing...a few quotes would have been helpful concerning the link between the sisters. :) This begs the question, how aware would she be? Do we have other examples/reactions from similar breaks in a link like this? Vandene has always been a suspect in my book. Do you have any circumstantial evidence (quotes, etc.) that suggest the rivalry?

Well, it might be a good idea to reread the second to last chapter of tDR where Egwene uses Tel'Aran'Rhiod to break herself, Elayne, and Nynaeve out of prison in the Stone of Tear. She manages to sever Joiya in the Dream, and when she wakes up, Joiya still has some hold on the shield for some reason (perhaps through her link with Amico?) Question is, did Amico feel the shield being shattered by Joiya's severing either?

OK...I can't seem to find any good evidence pertaining to the link, but I did find a few other things about Vandene that may support my theory.
TGH..."Vandene came in with a teapot and cups on a tray"....Obviously, Vandene is no stranger to ..um...serving tea. Also...
Right before Moiraine is attacked by the Drakhar Vandene says "Well, I have tasks to be about before bed. I will leave you to your studies"....Tasks like warding a Drakhar? Right after Adeleas says that only a sister could ward a Drakhar in TGh ch.22 Vandene turned from her warder warder and "regarded Moiraine silently."
Also, before Moiraine is leaving Vandene asks "And will you find your answers where you are going?" Like she is fishing for a hint where Moiraine is headed.
Also? in LOC, Vandene is supposed to be in Ebou Dar looking for runaways, yet "They had seen Vandene on this side of the river{Rahad} more than once. Is it possible that Vandene may be the reason that the cache of angreal and such were practically in Sammael's hand?
It also seems coincidental that the two Kin who figure out who Adeleas killer must be are quickly taken under Vandene's wing, and no one notices that Vandene could feasibly be a suspect. I understand that more evidence is necessary...I just wish we could get something in Vandene's PoV to disprove it

Actually...I think when the link using the bowl of the winds was broken, someone described it as Like being on top of the highest tower, then coming down in an instant. So maybe there is another precident of a link being suddenly broken..."That was not the way to end a circle...Others had suffered far worse than she..."(POD pp.133-134)
Surely Vandene would have felt that when her sister died...

Just the idea of a Black Ajah having to murder her twin sister was too cool for it to have been anyone else. It must have been a great relief to have been overlooked by Zarya and Kirstian.
Presuming Jordan likes to make the murderer "obvious" at the moment a body is discovered, your notice of the link as a clue makes Vandene the culprit.
Still, the last book pointed more toward Sareitha...

In TGH, Vandene couldn't have warded the dragkhar unless she could travel; if it had been closer than a mile, Moiraine, Lan, Adeleas, and Vandene's warder should have felt it approach.
I'm leaning more toward Sareitha (especially after CoT), but Vandene is definitely a suspect.

I haven't read CoT yet ((I'm here for some sneak peeks =p)), but I can still add something to this thread, methinks.
When Egwene went through T'A'R, and shielded Joiya, Joiya still held Saidar in the waking world; She did not fall asleep, hence she wasn't fully in T'A'R, if you get my drift. Egwene got Joiya half in and half out of T'A'R, so Joiya was only half shielded.
I thought of Vandene first, for killing Adeleas, but what about Nynaeve? Did she have something to do with it? Does Vandene have any herb knowledge, or did she ask Nynaeve? Was Nynaeve directly or indirectly involved?
Maybe Vandene drugged both Adeleas and Ispan, but would have spared Adeleas if she became a DF, then slit her throat when she refused....

The way that Nyneave reacted to the fact that Crimsonthorn was used in the murder says she played no active role in the murder.
Unless one of the sisters is a posing Forsaken, the idea of Compulsion is gone.
So Nyneave isnt a suspect.

The last truly surprising darkfriend was Ingtar. I think you are right about Vandene on a strictly storyline and coolness factor.
Also they keep saying that Darkfriends will kill anyone to keep there secrets, so that could be twins as well.

My personal opinion is that both Vandene and Adeleas were BA. When Elayne and Aviendha said that they weren't going to be questioning Ispan, Vandene and Adeleas go inside and weave a ward against listening.
Also, prior to that, Ispan had seen Vandene and Adeleas as safety. Ispan began to get worried when they left.

Of Course, if Vandene did kill Adeleas it could be because she discovered her sister to be Black Ajah. Killing Adeleas and Ispan to protect the shame her sister had brought on them and keep it Secret is entirly likely. And the fact that she herself had to do the deed would make her grief much greater.
