olan: Why and What

We all know Rolan is one of the Brotherless and is befriending Faile for now unknown reasons. But I think he will be a deciding factor in helping Faile escape. But i think Jordan has another plan for Rolan. I think Rolan will ask Faile to do something to/for him or he won't help. I think he'll ask for her to sleep with him and knowing that she'll just about anything to help herself escape, she'll accept. She'll escape to Perrin only to find that she is pregnant. Perrin wil think its his because they had tried to get pregnant, but Faile will know the truth (I think Perrin is unable to have kids). Rolan will come to find her to tell her he loves her and Perrin gets suspicious and eventually finds out. Maybe Rolan is Perrins hawk, but probably not. Also who is this isam guy I see so much and his connection to Luc.

I hope Jordan doesn't go there with the Faile thing. It seems overly dramatic, although maybe Perrin would finally get rid of Faile (bonus.) Has anyone considered that Rolan might be a darkfriend? Just a thought since most people that come into the lives of the main characters should always be looked at for suspicious motivations...other than getting Faile in the sack. :) Isam is Luc is Isam. Isam in T'A'R, Luc in the real world.

Rolan's relationship (whatever it will be) will be a counterpoint To Perrin's "affair" with Berelain *the Hawk.* It will either be what lets them overcome their dislike of each other's situations so they can remain happily married, or be the wedge that pushes them apart and makes Perrin Choose saving Rand over saving Faile.

Rolan definitely seems to be courting Faile. But Rolan is also disenchanged with the Shaido. Many of the Brotherless are probably starting to think that they didn't pick the lesser of two evils by abandoning their clans. Rolan is an in for Faile to exploit this discontent both to escape and to bring down Sevanna.

maybe Rolan and the brotherless are just trying to escape, and Rolan happens to overhear a gaishan talking about Faile trying to escape. Rolan doesn't want to make anyone have to stay there with the 'evil' shaido, so is trying to gain her trust so that he can help them escape. Afterall, they still think that taking wetlanders as gaishan isnt right, right? so they would probably want to help them escape.

Luc is Rand's uncle.

Isam is Lan's cousin.

Isam was captured as a baby by the forces of the Shadow. Luc went to the blight looking for Tigraine. Thus you get the dark verses scrawled on the wall in ... Fal Dara... i believe it was, about "Isam waits in the high passes." Somehow, those two were made two-in-one... otherwise known as Slayer.

However, Tamyrlin, you are wrong if you think that it is always Luc in the real world and Isam in TAR. When Elayne and... Egwene (I think) are talking in TAR, they see someone that could have been Rand's close relation. Luc was watching them in TAR.

Now, I have tossed around the idea that whichever one is in tRW, the other is in TAR, and that they can switch between themselves who is where.

that would give rise to the possibility that the battle with Slayer would be two parts...

Rand vs. Luc in TAR and Lan vs. Isam in tRW.

That would be cool.

The Brotherless keep to Aiel ways as much as Rands Aiel do, they just dont acknowledge Rand as the Carn a carn.

I personally believe Rolan is the man in white for the future of Berlain, but thats just a hunch since I dont like the Faile dying theories, and I dont really think she has a chance of meeting up with Galad anytime soon.

If I am "wrong" about Luc in T'A'R, I would appreciate the quote.

WH, Ch10 - Temaile spots Luc spying on Elayne and Nynaeve in Tel'aran'rhiod, but she does not know who he is.

WH, Ch22 - He freely switches personalities between Luc and Isam in both the real world and Tel'aran'rhiod. It is not clear if he can physically appear as Isam in the real world, or only as Luc.

Two references for you Tamyrlin, from the Encylopedia WOT reference on the character "Luc Mantear."

Odly, they seem to have missed Elayne catching a glimpse of him before Tamaile reports her sighting in the following POV.

This one is easy: Rolan is the "man in white" who Berelain marries.

I can't remember if the scene was in Lord of Chaos or Crown of Swords, but Min has a vision along the lines of "a man in white will sweep Berelain off her feet."

Rolan is a nice guy, at least what we've seen so far. He appears to hold true to the Aiel code and I don't think that he will take advantage of Faile. I predict that when Perrin destroys and/or scatters the Shaido, Rolan will be taken as gaishan. Faile will probably speak for him in gratitude for his help.

Rolan reminds me a lot of Perrin, at least in terms of kindness and attitude. If Berelain can be attracted to Perrin (and maybe even love him; as she has stated when she tells him that he would be "the first man she lays with" for love) why not go nuts over this now submissive warrior?

"If Berelain can be attracted to Perrin (and maybe even love him; as she has stated when she tells him that he would be "the first man she lays with" for love) why not go nuts over this now submissive warrior? "

Berelain says that Perrin will be the first person she sleeps with for pleasure, not love.

**The Brotherless keep to Aiel ways as much as Rands Aiel do, they just dont acknowledge Rand as the Carn a carn. **

Callandor, the Shaido and brotherless aiel do not keep true to aiel ways. Sevanna and some of the wise ones prides in wearing so much jewelry, they take wetlander gaishan, and

so on and so on.

Berelain's "man in white" could either be Rolan (but I don't recall Rolan being gaishan, maybe I'm wrong, please clarify or it could be a whitecloak (galad).

I definetly think Rolan and Faile's "relationship" will be a key factor with Perrin and her escape, but it would be really shocking if RJ did that to us, but again, he likes to do that to us readers.

I think Rolan and Faile will get it on, and Faile will hopefully die, and from there i think Berelain will comfort Perrin in multiple ways, and Perrin wont mind so much because he knew Faile cheated on him.

I dunno, alot of guessing for me.

brother of Battles: 2004-07-14

Also, about Luc/Isam. When Perrin and Slayer are both in the Two Rivers (tSR), Perrin comments on how closly Slayer resembles Lan.

I think Rolan started talking to Faile because he was attracted to her and because it was him that took her gaishain. Faile is going to use him to help her escape but Rolan isn't dumb enough to fall for her tricks. I still think that Rolan is going to help Faile, but I think Rolan is only doing what he is doing because he is attracted to her. Remember he states quite clearly, "whatever happens when you are gaishain, never happened."

**I think Rolan and Faile will get it on, and Faile will hopefully die, and from there i think Berelain will comfort Perrin in multiple ways, and Perrin wont mind so much because he knew Faile cheated on him.**

If Faile dies, how does Perrin know she cheated on him?

If Faile gets so angry over Perrin doing what is culturally wrong in Saldaea toward Berelain, why would she cheat on Perrin?

Why, oh WHY!, would after Berelain the tramp caused so much damage to Perrin's marriage, and relationship to Faile before marriage, would Perrin go and hook up with Berelain?

EVERYTHING in Perrin's Point of View, for the last 3 books and more, goes specifically against Perrin hooking up with Berelain.
