peculation on romance.

I was reading "The Shadow Rising" and at the end of the battle of Emond's Field there is a passage of everybody going up to their loved ones, Gual and Chaid, Bran and Mairan, Perrin and Faile, Daise and Wit ect. ect. ect.
Now personally I have always taken this battle as a metaphor of the last battle.
Channeling, the Aiel, Ogiar and all the other major points of the world.
What I wonder is how this passage will be on a grander scale. If Rand survives then he will get with Elayne, Avienda and Min, Thom with Moiraine (if you believe that theory), Mat and Tuon, Gareth and Suin, Moragse and Taveldor(sp?) Nyneave and Lan, Lioal and the female Ogiar I forget the name of ect. ect. ect.
RJ has a habit of pairing off the major charaters. He has a softness for couples.
All the major characters end up with somebody else. But in the passage in "The Shadow Rising" 1 character is quite singularly mentioned as alone. Tam.
So I wonder who in the list of charaters that are introduced so far would pressent a match for Tam.
None in Emond's field or it probably would have happened by now. So who in the outside world. She must be of a simular age group...but wait. Most men simular to Tam's age are paring off with Aes Sedei e.g.- Gareth Byrne.
So which Aes Sedei would be appropriate? Then it struck me. Which grey haired character has been mothering Rand recently, a character with a huge presence of will and a strange taste in hair acsessories....
She does speculate at one point about finding a new warder, and she is a green. Although she must be the ultimate nightmare mother-in-law!!!
Interesting idea isn't it :)
I began to wonder about a few other characters and who they might pair off with.
Galad, personally I see him becoming the new Lord Captain Commander of the Children of the light. Which means celebacy. However I can see one possibility. Leanne is a green now if I remember correctly. I can see them as a couple with some credability.
Aram, I cannot see any of the existing characters going with Aram. But this goes against my theory of Romance for all main good characters. Maybe then this is a sort of support for the "Aram is a darkfriend" theory.
Sheriam, I can't see anybody getting with her. She has no warder and little contact with men. Maybe this heralds a death for her.
Anybody have any more possible match ups or ideas?
Any comments are, as always, welcome and appreciated.

Oh come on Tam its something different. You might say it's...refreshing. Tam as Cadsuanes Warder...interesting. Bet that would really piss Rand off. I think the Female ogier is Erith? As for Galad i think he's gonna die because he loves Egwene and she loves Gawyn so thtas gonna drive Galad over the edge, they fight Galad dies problem solved.

Celibacy?!
Where did you get that notion?
And I think Galad and Berelain have some un-started business between them that we will soon read of.

the bornhalds are father and son and nobody thinks anything about that is strange...so, no celibacy for the whitecloaks.

Sheriam is going to die in my mind.
Aram is just too creepy to get a girlfriend.
Tam??? He's like 60, and I think he was really taken to heart by his wife Kari, so I doubt he re-marry.
I've always liked the Galad and Berelain idea, just so the little pirg Berelain will go the hell away, but I think that Berelain will match up with Rolan, the Brotherless Aiel that helps Faile. Galad... I don't really care about him. Have him die or whatever.

I'm suprised anybody is replying rather than just telling me to sit down and be quiet :)
I gotta say, good point about the Bornhalds, totally forgot about that, which is stupid cos a really liked Geofram.

hehe Aram is creepy, but he can still pull girls.
Tam, 60, 3rd Age Viagra. Done.
Galad, his involvement in the books still has me puzzled but i dont think he'll be the man in white. What I hope to see is Galad learn that doing the right thing is not always right, then immediately die in a huge swordfight.

I see Galad leading the Whitecloaks to Shayol Ghul to fight with the side of the Light at Tarmon Gaidon.

Oh yeah, another tidbit on Whitecloak celibacy. Pedron Niall had been widowed for twenty five years as of the day he died.

I do not believe that Galad and Berelain will do anything. Berelain's wax seal thing is a hawk, right? I think she is Perrin's hawk...possible Faile leaves Perrin for Rolan or she dies trying to escape to him or something, but Berelain is the Hawk. I'm going with the notion that Galad is LCC of the Children, and leads them in the last battle.
Aram is a total creep out...but he isn't a darkfriend, or he woulda killed Perrin a long while ago.
Sheriam dies in my opinion and rightfully so.
I'm done now.

**I think she is Perrin's hawk**
Who chases after Perrin like a bird of prey? Who wheres a hawk crown? Who is the decendents of Arthur Hawkwing? It is painfully clear Berelain is Perrin's hawk.
No, no and no to the rest. Faile would never leave Perrin.
**TITLE: Path of Daggers, CHAPTER: 8 - A Simple Country Woman
She wished her mother were there, now, to advise her. She loved Perrin with every fiber of her being, and he confused every fiber.**
Do you really think she would just say "F you Perrin, I'm going to go marry an Aielman. Go be with that harlet Berelain."? No way.
And I have NO IDEA why almost everyone wants Faile to die. She told Perrin to find someone she would approve of and marry her if she died? Yeah... but Perrin didn't want to make this promise and was forced into agreeing. Faile could've liked Berelain? Yeah... until she started getting between her and her husband; that kind of sets a divide. The viewing of the hawk and the falcon on Perrin's shoulder? Yeah... but the hawk was trying to put a leash on him!
IF, and that's one big IF!, Faile would die, Perrin would most likely freak and become a total wolfbrother.
Faile is gonig to use Rolan to escape the Aiel camp, and in my opinon, Rolan will be captured by Gaul or another Aiel because they might mistake him for trying to re-capture Faile and then he is put into gai'shain white, and they inform Perrin about Faile's return, and because Berelain is such an annoying character, she will follow Perrin to meet with Faile and see Rolan: her man in white.

I have always thought that while Faile is definately the falcon( btw, agree with Callandor, don't want her dead), berelain is not the hawk. I don't know, why, gut instinct perhaps. Besides, Verin is always looking at everybody, especially Perrin, "in that birdlike fashion" and she is definately trying to tie a leash on him, or, well any of the three...

Nay. Berelain is the hawk, and Faile is the falcon. Perrin and Faile will stay together, and I also think Berelain will have Rolan rather then Galad. I think Galad will die. And kill of Aram to. Theres to few characters dying.

Title: Lord of Chaos
Chapter: Thorns
Min's viewing of Berelain
"Just a man in white who will make her fall head over heels."
This sound a lot like galad, now a whitecloak, and as they are both considered very beautiful, seem to be the perfect match.

As I predicted, Cadsuane will marry Tam al'Thor. After all Rand must rememer tears and I can't believe that there is anything that would shatter his hardiness more.

eldar89: 2009-01-23
Haha, I can imagine that would break Rand's spirit pretty quick if Cadsuane became his mother-in-law. He would find tears pretty quick if she does end up bonding Tam/marrying him. On Berelain's man in white, I don't think it's Galad because Min knows Galad to recognize him so you would think if she had a viewing involving him she would have mentioned him, if for no other reason than the shock of seeing Berelain falling in love with Galad. Obviously, it's possible she didn't see the man's face, but I think at best this is one of Robert Jordan's red herrings.
