o channeling men age normally?

I don't know whether men who channel saidin age slower or not, but I believe that channeling the One Power at all causes you to age slower, but there is a couple of things that work against this.
1) Mazrim Taim, assuming he is not demandred, claims to have been channeling for about 15 years, and he looks to be in his middle years, meaning he has aged the same as people who can't channel do, but he might be demandred.
2) Logain supposedly has been channeling for 6 years, and he appears just short of his middle years, which would make him age normal, not slowly, as well, but it could be that the slowing has not hit, or barely started to hit him yet.
3)It has said that moghedien is around 400 and lanfear is around 200 years old, but it hasnt come out and said how old any of the male forsaken are.
Or it may be that the taint has caused them to age without slowing, but whatever the case, I believe they age slower to.

It is my understanding that male channelers also go through the slowing process, but I assume that the taint canceled those properties out, that it caused or enhanced the aging, disease, deterioration process, which is why we may not see the slowing in male channelers at this moment. As you said, I think the taint prevents us from proving it, but I am sure the male channelers, pre-taint, aged in the slow manner in which the female channelers do.

I'm unsure about Taim - I have considered these things myself in the past. Demandred can be ruled out as an option - we know he's not.
The slowing in males takes places between 25-30 years (rather than 20-25 in females), and we know it happens quickly.
Middle-age for channelers is, usually, around the 300 mark, but if Taim slowed late (say thirty), his appearance would require him to be at least 100-150, possibly towards 200.
And yet we are told he is only 35 - but are we told that? Rand *estimates* Taim to be around 35 when he meets him, but it has never been confirmed...

Some points:
1: Men (until recently) probably avoided channeling as much as possible- (who wants that taint in you) Does this slow the slowing effect?
2: Does "the slowing" occur like an on/off switch or is it gradual?
e.g.
Age 1 to 25: 1year = 1year appearence
Age 25 to 35: 1 year= .5 year app.
Age 35 to 40: 1 year= .25 year app.
Age 100 to 200: 1 year= .01 year app.
Do you see what I'm getting at? It seems reasonable that the rate of slowing increases over time (at a decreasing rate). (1st Derivative > 0, 2nd Derivative < 0, for all you math majors).

Yes, men slow. The slow roughly around 26-29 (25-30 is a better example I think ;)). Channeling men get all the benefits any channeling woman gets: dream protection, aura or dream protection, slowing, feeling of the DO's taint, etc.

LTT ws 300. He was middle aged. Slowing depends on OP strength: Cad, who I beleive is second to the trio, is 300, where as some die at 200. Oath rod cut life in half, (or in a third, dont know where I saw that, thus 1000 for AOL channelers Lifespan)

I do not think that the strength effects the speed of aging.
Yes its true Cadsunanne is the most powerful Aes Sedei before the trio and she has grey hair while Vandene and Adeleas are weaker, younger and with white hair, but look at Verin (as always the exception :).
She is old, we know that. She has grey streaks in her hair but is quite weak in the power.
This means that either strength has no effect on speed of aging, hair has relevence to age or Verin took the oaths on the rod which RJ says she did. And personaly I've always stood by the hair = age idea.

**LTT ws 300.**
Where did you get this information? AOL and unbound channelers most likely lived 600 to possbibly 650 years; not 1000. Oath Rod cuts life in half for the Aes Sedai; not thirds ;).

BWB states the average non channelers lifespan is 150-200. BWB satates 700 is AOL AS life span, so good job to Callandor.
LTT is 300 cuz he was YOUNG-MIDDLE AGED. AOL history states that 300 was middleaged

Ok... that age must be from the AoL, cause in no way can non-channelers be 150-200 years old in the Third Age.
And you can't just go by middle aged for LTT, he had more gray hair then brown, but I know people that would have all their hair gray at 22 if they didn't dye it. So it is varrying and cannot be accuratly determined.

I'm not entirely sure about his, I belive that men do age slower than normal, mainly because it supports one of my own theories. But (I'm not sure if I'm getting this exactly right because I'm doing it from memory) I'm not sure, because of how much Aginor aged when he was sealed. It says that he aged because of his seal being closest to the turning of the wheel (or something like that), but does that mean that the forsaken age slower because of the seals, or that Aginor stoped aging slowly for some reason because of the grinding of the wheel against his seal. I'm not sure, but I'm hoping men age slower cause it's kind of a key element to my theory.

not to disrupt anything but take into acount the society of women channelers who do not use the oath rod... perhaps using the oath rod not only makes you die young but also could have it run into the blooslines. also being able to channel doesnt come out of knowwhere it is deff hereditary and i believe that this may have some effect on the man aging because they were cast out before the breaking. i dont know how to tie it in but i know in RJ's mind it is connected why else would there be such difference between women and men channelers?

RJ hasn't made up his mind if channeling is geneticly based, or soul based.

Tamyrlin: 2003-11-15
Callandor, I don't think you can make the statement that Jordan hasn't made up his mind. Channeling is both based on genetics and the soul, as is evidence through those born with the ability and those that can learn. It is implicit in that relationship, in my opinion.

Callandor: 2003-11-15
What I meant Tam, was that whenever RJ is asked he always gives conflicting answers on this question: one interview he will say genetics, another soul, another it is both and then back again. It is most likely based on both, almost certainly, but it isn't written in stone yet.
