On page 299 (Chapter 24: Flight Down the Arinelle) Rand sees "a tower of metal" that is "two hundred feet high, as big as a house, with no mark on it and never an opening to be found." At the time Matt thinks there is treasure in the tower. I think this is the best know reference of a strange tower in all of the books. I also propose that this the the Tower of Ghenji. I think at some time Matt will remember see this tower and head for it with Thom.

Yup. It was confirmed in The Shadow Rising when Perrin visited it in tel'aran'rhiod and met up with Birgitte. Whether or not Mat puts two and two together (or has a reason to) remains to be seen.

But why would Mat head for the Tower? He's got more important things to worry about than treasure in some old tower, and when he first saw it he was under the influence of the Dagger. IIRC, the Dagger was making him greedy, in addition to making him suspicious, saping his life force, etc. I think it would take something fairly important to make him go there, like finding out it goes to 'Finnland, or through it he (and Thom) can save Moiraine.

I believe to have read somewhere this tower could be a direct entrance into the world of the *Finn; and Matt, Thom & others have to enter it to save Moraine (a viewing of Min also mentioned for Rhand to 'win' a woman had to be found that was lost and found again, or something like that, can't remember the exact fragment - but I think this woman is Moraine).

Nah, Mat is naturally affectionate to wealth. He likes having money. Mat wondering if there is treasure in the Tower, is ALL Mat.

Of course the love of wealth is all Mat, remeber whenever he is in a palace, he is always pricing things in his head. He even comments that something must be wrong with him in Ebu Dar when he is so scared of Tylin that he doesn't even care about all the wealth around him.

Mat also places a great deal of emphasis on saving his own neck. I don't think he would seek out the Tower of Ghenji except under two circumstances:

1) He truly believed there was treasure there, more wealth than he could gain gambling with the nobles, and only if he was ignorant of the danger there.

2) He was trying very hard not to go there and the pull of ta'veren dragged him there kicking and screaming.
