he Black Aja is Behind it

by Anubis: 2003-04-12 | Not yet rated

Previous Categories: The Young Sitters

The thing about the sitters, is that they seem especially chosen not to get along. They remain divided on almost all issues, and can not make a decision as a group for the good of anything. Siuan notices that the sitters are too young. This may be the case. A bunch of young ideal sitters that would not be able to compromise would not be good, and so would a bunch of old, completely set in their ways sitters ala romanda and leline?.
But regardless, and the specifics dont really matter, the black ajah is behind it. The black had a major role in the choosing of the sitters. I dont know how the ajah heads play into this, if they are working with, or against the black. i suspect that they may be futilly struggling to fix the tower. anyways, the evidence i have:

COT CH 21: "There was nothing the Sitters could do short of open defiance. What was the Hall's right was theirs, but the Hall seldom dared infringe far on the Amrylin Seat's authority. Not unless the Hall was united against the Amrylin, AND THIS HALL WAS ANYTHING BUT UNITED ON ANY ONE POINT. ALVARIAN (head of the black) HAD HELPED ENSURE THAT HERSELF."

so clearly the black is behind the disturbing pattern that siuan sees.

Hmm, good point on the Hall and the Black Ajah - so your suggestion would be that the Black Ajah in Egwene's midst is also playing the game with the Sitters being chosen which is reasonable considering Halima's influence. There seems to be some good coordination between those parties then...hmm, maybe this does give credence to the Black Ajah taking Egwene.

I think this is a really sound idea there is alot to be considered i was going to say somthing about i dont think the BA could be the ones to capture Egwene because they were surprised but how many in the tower would recognize Egwene maybe some by description but these new her on sight with what seemed no second thought about weather it was her or not so it seems compleatly plausable that they were BA quite a interesting theory.

what im not clear on, is wether or not the black sisters are behind the young sitters. rhomanda and leline are the kind of thing that makes me think that there is a natural progression toward younger sitters, and that the black is making sure there are people who will disagree with anything there.

Alviarin ensured that the TAS couldn't agree on anything by sowing discord and suspicion between the Ajahs which *indirectly* affects the unity of the Hall. The Ajah heads were responsible for appointing the "Too Young Sitters" and Alviarin only has control over one or two Ajah heads, if that many.

The Rebel Sitters had all been chosen before Halima arrived on the scene. Her "influence" would not have been a factor in who was chosen.

The problem of the Too Young Sitters is, IMHO, just one more symptom of all positions of power turning over to a new generation. The BA is sowing discord and exerting what influence it can to cause dissention, but it is NOT behind the Young Sitters. If the BA was behind the youth movement, there would be much more coordination in the way things are going wrong.

I think that the BA placed these young sitters, because all they think about is fame, recognition for a job well-done and being over-cinfident, so they are very easy to manipulate, which is like an invitation for the BA to do just that.

see, the thing that i have a problem with is that the young sisters seem to support egwene, and also come up with all the good ideas. I think it is three of the youngins that go for the alliance with the black tower (a vital step towards reaccepting male channelers)

and nice quote harold.. i could swear id seen that before ;)

There are some quotes that I've heard that help this idea, and others that hinder it, but i think i have a reason why the black ajah would do it.

It doesn't help the hall to be united, so they can't make desicisions as fast. This keeps the tower divided so that the DO wouldn't have to fight a united Tower. A unified white tower would be like a thorn in the DO's foot that would be hard to remove. By keeping it seperated, it makes it kind of like two poisens entering someones body that fight against each other as well as the person, so they could get rid of each other before they killed the person.(the DO)
