uon will kill Rand

by rsmalec: 2003-02-07 | 6 out of 10 (4 votes)

Previous Categories: Mat and the Daughter of the Nine Moons

Tuon, the Daughter of Nine Moons, Matrim Cauthon's wife, will kill Rand, the Dragon Reborn and Coramoor in fulfillment of Seanchan prophecy. Look in WH, the second-to-last paragraph of chapter 14, "What a Veil Hides", "You must not let him learn how dangerous you are to him until it is too late for him to escape."

Okay, this is more of a prediction, but it could begin a new line of thinking. Too late for him? While I see why that could imply death, it also could mean a variety of other things. For example, she may mean to take Mat captive as ransom or she may mean to try and turn him some how to help her against Rand (reminiscient of Mat's trip through the Portal Stone and his comments to Rand afterwards.) Thanks for pointing out that quote, I seem to forget that Tuon may have less than "good" intentions.

Callandor: 2003-02-07

This is almost certainly refering to the male Adam and not to Tuon actually killing Rand, although it could but the Seanchan want to defeat the DO the same as any Randlander.

I think this line refers to Rand possibly being leashed by Tuon, not killing him. Remember that most of us assume Tuon can learn to channel (she trains damane). I think this refers to Rand being leashed, nothing more.

Tuon is Seanchan, and as such, as a completly Seanchan point of view. The Seanchan seem to want to use Rand, and indeed in their version of the prophecies has the Dragon Reborn serving the Crystal Throne (Seanchan Nobility). The Seanchan want to control channelers as they see them as a threat to order and with the Saidan clean agian they may attempt to control male channelers as well (with a simmelar A'dam). That is unless, the Seanchan populace learns the dirty little secret behind the Damane and their trainers...

Tuon will not kill Rand, she was sent by the Empress to capture Rand and bring him back to kneel at the feet of the empress. The Seanchan have a very meglomania type personality and it makes sense for them to try and capture the Dragon Reborn. In addition, even the Seanchan know that the Dragon MUST be at The Last Battle.

Very true oxdp954, but that means that the empress is not a DF, as was suggested earier. While I personally believe she isn't, that the df's are under her but not her, it is stilla posibility. But one lacking proof.

I think that it is very unlikely that rj would introduce the male A'damme(sp)then not use it but werent there hazards envolved in a female channaler leashing a man. would someone in t's possition be put at such a risk?

I see only one flaw... ONLY DARKFRIENDS want to actually kill Rand, everyone else wants to use him... maybe they'll try to make him Tuon's do'covale or some such, or even so'jhin.

Tuon will be the one to *direct the flows safely* as he uses Callandor at the LB. (Logain will be using the CK). She will have leashed him, and be controlling him to an extent, thus he kneels to the crystal throne. (the agent thereof).

**I see only one flaw... ONLY DARKFRIENDS want to actually kill Rand, everyone else wants to use him... maybe they'll try to make him Tuon's do'covale or some such, or even so'jhin.**

No, people who don't believe he is the Dragon Reborn, like Whitecloaks, would kill him. Also, nobles and rulers who don't want him there wouldn't mind him gone, as per TSR and the Tairens.

vodomar: 2004-02-12

- I must make contact with the Dragon Reborn as soon as possible. He must kneel before the Crystal Throne before Tarmon Gai'don - Winter's Heart, What a Veil Hides.

Kneel doesn't mean kill. Her objective is to make him obey the Empress not have him killed. The quote you are refering to (you must not let him learn how ...) was said by Anath her Soe'feia (and as many would probably tell you, Anath's motives may be a little suspect)

I believe that Tuon may be some kind of threat b/c of her point of view. But the only reason that she has this is becuase of the way the Seanchan are, they bend beliefs to suit thre ways and make wat they do ligit, just like any major emire. In the begining they new that channelrs wrent all bad, but it suited thier position to make it so. With this kind of mentality, they could easily change the Dragon prophesieis to suit themsleves. I mean having a prophecy saying that the only means of salvation will kneel to your ruler puts you in pretty high standing. Furthermore, has everyone forgot what moraine(sorry about spelling) said in her letter. She told Rand to not let anyone control or use him b/c that will just lead to the world's down fall. Rand will not kneel to anyone, people will try to make him and may succeed for a bit, but he will escape just like with the Red Ajah.He is not soppose to kneel to the Dragon throne, and Tuon will never control him, like i said, moiraines letter makes it perfectly clear that if this happens the DO will win

I agree with rsmalec, I think Tuon may have something to do with Rand's death. By the time of the grat immigration, someone, maybe Suroth, would have gotten word that Rand was there, and this is why Tuon is stil "veiled" and undercover, so to speak. The adam

I agree with rsmalec, I think Tuon may have something to do with Rand's death. By the time of the great migration of the Seanchan, someone, maybe Suroth, would have gotten word that Rand was there, and this is why Tuon is stil "veiled" and undercover, so to speak. The a'dam I don't think is a possibility because it is not in the style of a Seanchan a'dam [TSR, ch. 55, pg. 920] and Tuon would not know how to use it.

However, you have to consider that it would be too late for him to "escape." And how would one escape from death? Myabe Tuon and the Seanchan want to capture him and bring to to the Empress? Or at least have him under their control

I think that the Empress could still be a darkfriend without Tuon killing Rand. Maybe the others aren't and want to bring him under control, and the Empress wants to kill him as soon as they bring him to her. And who would question her?
